Trinity 42 Manual 7

Featured Replies

Manual scores within last 3 minutes to avert the shutout. This was my first tme seeing T this year. Man, they are young. Manual dropped a lot of short passes and had a few nice runs but I don't think Manual had an offensive play (I left with about 3 minutes to go) over 15-20 yards. I think T wore M down a little late in the 3rd quarter and 4th. A couple of things that surprised me about T's offense : they didn't go to Quick as much as I thought and they didn't throw downfield much...until late.

Overall, I'm happy. Manual has always played T tough and t was coming off a nice win in Indy, so it was somewhat of a "trap" game.

Trinity was not clicking on either side of the ball after the first two possessions. Many open Manual receivers. They did drop a lot of passes. I should correct my opening statement a little. Trinity was operating pretty well between the 20's but got bogged down several times in the red zone. They could have had another 3 td's. Defense pretty solid against the run but still need work defending the pass. Pressure on the qb still not quite there.

I think they will be more focused for next week's titanic opponent.

One thing I forgot to mention, the Manual students were great tonight. When they were down 28-0 they were still cheering and in great voice. Very impressive. More schools should take note.

Although Manual's total crowd was not large.

Agreed but there was a lot of students and they did a nice job. Trinity brought an army which was nice. Still would like to see more of the students though.

Nice win for the ROCKS

Congrats Rocks. Was concerned about this as a Trap game and also did not know what M really had or was about / way to go

Today's paper says M had 290 yards total offense with 6 punts, 1 turnover and 8 penalties for 77 yards. Yet they amassed 30 first downs, according to the C-J. I'm not good at math but that number seems highly unlikely if not impossible.

I think T's QB (I know he only a soph and I really do like him a lot), as time goes on, will read his rollout options better and run the ball at the corners.

Last night I thought there were at least 5 or 6 occasions when he could've gained significant yardage had he run. Maybe he was under orders not to run. I don't know. He is reputed to be a good runner.

It was a CJ typo! Manual had 20 first down and Trinity had 23. I think people need to be patient with this YOUNG Rocks team. They are learning a lot about themselves in the first half of the season. By year's end, those super sophomore's and junior's will be a year older on the field. Look out!! I have been watching T football for many, many years and the team speed on this team is off the charts. The defensive scheme is new and each game it will get better as the kids play it. Manual played hard... good win for the Rocks! Now it's on to the hardest part of the schedule... Cinn. Elder, Cinn. St. X. This will be a Masters course in Football. Good luck to Manual the rest of the way and GO ROCKS! #20!

Nice post. I liked your perspective.

Nice win for Trinity. If they don't get beat to death over the next couple of games they will be very hard to handle down the stretch and on into the playoffs.

T's Sophomores and Juniors are going to have a difficult task as they step up in class the next couple of weeks against the Ohio powers. Take your licks now and grow from it.

All part of the learning process and the "Beatty Plan." Next several weeks will be a challenge. Take them one at a time - and see how we come out the other end. Like has been said previously, "I really like this team." Keep it going.:thumb:

Not so sure they'll be the ones taking the licks these next two weeks. This time, the Ohio teams have to sit on a bus for two hours after a school day...
