I really think the Newport O will get back on track this week with James Glenn back. We really missed his speed to the outside against Fleming. Defense last week surprisingly stepped up. Should be a good ball game.

Last year Newport really put it on the Raiders in the first round last year. But this year the team seems much improved. Can you guys tell me what the difference in last years team compared to this years? Im just trying to figure out how they improved that much from last year.

Newports "D" could be coming on just when it needs to, I think they will need Glenn back to win this game,could be a close one.

Newport has stopped the run very well as of late and from what I hear that is what East Carter likes to do so if Newport can stop the run then they will win.

I believe they had 3 or 4 starters injuried last year (for one). But I think primarily, they had success early and built confidence in themselves. I believe thier mentality going into a game is much better.

East was hobbling going into the playoffs last year. This year they are healthy both physically and in attitude.

I saw Friday against Fleming that "Big Glen" Young was playing DT and seemed to be very effective against the run and the pass. But it seemed he tired easily...

Against Fleming he was having muscle spasms in his neck but that should be all cleared up for East Carter so I believe he'll be ready.

I think this will help too but Wilfong ran admirably in his place, does anyone think the carries will be split at all...

I think this puts more pressure on East Carter. Now they have to worry about Glenn, Wilfong, and Hesch passing or running out of the back field. Could be scary for the Raiders.

Don't sell these Raiders short. This is the best defense that Newport has faced yet besides NCC. They are fast and hard hitting.

O Wilfong stepped in great and ran like a champ. Its not a put down to him, I just think James speed and elusiveness would have given Fleming something else to worry about, and I think he could have got to the outside and outran the defense. Wilfong has shown his toughness and will get rewarded with carries too. He is a more between the tackles runner while Glenn is the speed threat.

After what their defense did to Lloyd, I gotta agree with that. These boys better realize this isnt the team they beat 40-16 last year. They sound like they are far from it.
