Lone Oak @ National 7 on 7 Tourney

Featured Replies

From Rivals.com:

"Paducah (Ky.) Lone Oak ended the day with a 1-3 record. Two of the losses were close, including a three-point setback to Memphis (Tenn.) University School. According to Kentucky state rules, the team has only been able to practice for three days prior to this event. "

Even they mention the disadvantage of no June practice (7 on 7)....

Lone Oak QB Presnell 7th rated player after day 1 scoutsinc.com

Spoke to Jack and he was fairly upbeat this afternoon after the Flash finished mid to upper bottom in pool play. The double elimination tourney started tonight and he promised to call me tomorrow and let me know how it is going but overall given the level of competition he was somewhat pleased if that is possible for Jack.

Lone Oak went 2-4-1 in pool play. They've gone 1-1 in the double elimination tournament. They were seeded #23 out of 32 teams. I don't buy the no 7 on 7 in June. You can still work on your offense for the entire month, and they've had 12 or 13 days since the dead period was over to throw against competition.

Lone Oak lost their first game today. They finished 3-6-1 for the tournament.

Not having the 7 on 7 in June is huge, period.

With a little more work with the jugs machine it should be quite the year...I mean i saw balls dropped that were right in the bread basket on a regurlar basis..If we would have caught 60% of the balls dropped that were in the numbers we would have won 3 more games...Fact is i am proud as heck of our guys to be the first team from ky. to ever go to this and brave 105 degree heat in helmets,,,,Play 4 games plus a day and end up 14 out of 32 teams most ranked nationally in the top 50...Kuddos to Haskins and the staff for taking the next step to make a championship not just a dream in Lone Oak but closer to a reality....just got to get over the hump...

Yep, I agree. People can say 7 on 7 doesn't mean much all they want, but it is a valuable practice tool, why else would so many coaches be doing it?

Good job Lone Oak. I think its a great tool to have. It will only help LO in the long run.
