December 16, 201015 yr They feel they need the time to develop. Same reason he moved out of the 2010 class, but now that he has NCAA clearance they want a jump start at the college instead of prep level. Never said it made sense, just what the kid and his dad want... Is he NBA quality? Or will he be at some point?

December 16, 201015 yr It would take at least 2 years IMO... In that case the extra development time could be beneficial.
December 16, 201015 yr I know the dads only looking out for whats best for his son, but I think playing this year would help his development more in the long run opposed to hurting it. Even if he isn't ready physically or mentally just getting the minutes under his wing would give him a leg up on the next two seasons more than practicing and working out. I know it may more less be a confidence thing and the main concern is not wanting to throw him to the wolves and effect his maturation but you see it all the time in high school with 8th graders playing Varsity. In most cases those guys pan out to be great players, part of that being the ability they already had, the other part being they had been battle tested with more experience than the rest of the guys they play with/against.

If he played this year, he would be coming in at the middle of the season, without having practiced with his team, and would be going against competition that has practiced & played together all year. He would have to familiarize himself with the DDMO (if choosing UK) and get his game legs/conditioning. If he does indeed enroll 2nd semester, but doesn't start playing until 2011-12, I think he chooses Kansas.
December 16, 201015 yr While I agree, it simply doesn't fit with what they are looking for right now. Could change at any moment, but that's what it is. Don't shoot the messenger... :idunno:
