Irony – Thy Name Is Obama.

Featured Replies

Regardless of who it was delivering the message, it's a good one that hopefully is taken seriously. I wish just once people could appreciate the message being delivered, rather than worry about the person giving it.

I don't deny Bush or other Presidents did it, never said they didn't. However, he's seemed to make such a habit of it yet he was going to be different, he wasn't going to do those things. Remember?

The whole point of the thread is the man doesn't practice what he preaches. Good advice, without a doubt, but he sounds like a fool considering how often he does it himself.

What happened to change?

What happened to a new and better Washington?

What happened to Obama?

Thise are good questions RTS. What happens to all of them when they get to Washington? Change is a common theme. I remember Bush talking about he wanted to work with Democrats. Clinton wanted to work with Republicans. So many of the Reps and Sens get elected saying they are different and they will change things. It is probably a topic for another thread but what happens to politicians when they get to DC?

Too bad you can't get past all that and listen to his message. To me, that's a much better use of time.

Seems to me you'd prefer that he continues to do things the same way his predecessors have done. You certainly have been opposed to everything he's tried to change.

Wait...you don't like it when he tries to change things; you don't like it when he keeps it the same.

Frankly....there's absolutely nothing Obama could ever do right in your eyes.

It's like listening to a thief that continues to steal telling people they shouldn't take things that don't belong to them.

What that's remained the same don't I like now that I liked in the past?

I've certainly one upped you, I at least started a thread giving him credit for something he did I liked. You've, not once, as much as posted a single negative thing about Obama that I can think of, yet you claim to be an "on the fence" type.

The only real issue here is the "I'll be different than the other guy" mantra. I mentioned that in my post. For those that banked purely or most on that, then sure, they are going to be disappointed.

The message of THIS speech is personal responsibility for one's own destiny. You can't really get a better message than that. As regards the intended irony mentioned in this thread, it's not really comparable to Obama blaming the economic mess on Bush. There's a kernel of truth in that comment, but it is a useless one. Why waste the energy and instead, work harder at the solution?

You can give a better message than that, a message of leading by example. But, as we've seen lately, leading isn't exactly his bag.

We'll have to disagree with that.

Sorry, but phony is phony, and that's how he comes across.

Weren't you the guy with the anti-Obama avatar and the location that read "No Barack, you can't"? :sssh:

Which part?

Personally, I don't find him phony at all. As I mentioned in another post, no matter what the man does, you won't cut him any slack at all. You condemn me for not starting threads bashing him, but, where are your threads praising him?

Like what he's trying to do or not, he is doing things differently. He's agressivly pushing through legislation that he promised. That's good in the eyes of many of us.

Where's your thread that praises him for not taking away your guns? :D

I don't care if you one up me. But, there's no reason for me to start any threads disagreeing with anything he proposes.....by the time I get up in the mornings, you've taken care of that. :p

As mcpapa once said, I do disagree with him on some things....I think he's not being liberal enough. :D

I'll praise him for something. He is, beyond a shadow of doubt, the best shyster of ALL time. He came across, to a lot of fooled voters, that he was going to be one to govern from the center. One that would change Washington for the better. The ONLY thing he's doing different is turning left more than a Nascar driver. His turn signal is stuck on left. Many of his supporters are starting to come around, some are still mesmerized by his foolery.

 So we should just completely ignore the message, because he places blame just like every other politician in the history of the United States has done?

Hopefully these kids have more sense than that.

Which has absolutely nothing to do with this....At least I'm smart enough to be able to form independent opinions on things on an individual basis instead of blindly following my party like a sheep, and criticizing everything the President does.

Apparently that is just asking way too much.
