May 30, 201016 yr The Reds finish up the homestand at 5-2 and will likely carry a 1 game lead into the road trip. A huge 3 game series in St. Louis, a well deserved day off Thursday and a weekend series in Washington against the Nats.
May 30, 201016 yr Leake with another good outing where he comes away empty handed. I texted my friend as soon as Gomes lead off the 9th with a single. Pinch run Stubbs for Gomes. I don't know why you don't in that situation. I'm still thrilled with a 5-2 homestand, and I'll be thrilled with a 3-3 road trip.
May 30, 201016 yr I would have been happy with a 6-1 homestand against those two teams. 5-2 was the minimally acceptable record against those horrible teams. You've got to win the game in the 9th with two on and none out. You can't be thrown out at third on the bunt. Home plate umpire was horrendous; Reds thought they could mail in a W today. Disgusting waste of three hours. Should have grilled out instead.

If your stragety is to bunt, which is the right move, Stubbs should have been pinch ran for Gomes. That was the play of the game. Dusty is a good manager when we score ten reuns but the close games, he continues to struggle. Hope that lack of offense does not carry over to tomorrow.
May 30, 201016 yr When there is a close game late, I get a sickening feeling in my stomach. Today just felt like it would not end well. Dusty saw to it by not subbing Stubbs for Gomes. If you are going to sacrifice(as you should) in that case, why not have your fastest runner at second? It is in situations like that where Dusty's brain just doesn't function correctly. BTW, Pujols is warming up for the Reds tomorrow. He had THREE dingers today! I'm sure Baker will tee it up for him this week.
May 30, 201016 yr Author People need to realize that even good teams that win 90 games are still going to lose SEVENTY, it's a long season.
May 30, 201016 yr I expect my manager to be at least good enough to make the correct moves that LRCW is texting to friends. LRCW, forget your friend next time and text Dusty.

May 30, 201016 yr I thought for sure that Paulino and Quintero were going to fight right there on the mound in the 8th inning.
May 30, 201016 yr Anything less than 5-2 would have been a disappointment. We got five of seven--- minimally acceptable. I would have been thrilled with seven, happy with six, well, okay with five. The Cardinals await... I'll be tickled with a 4-2 trip, okay with a 3-3.
