May 26, 201016 yr I don't know how to take Paul's remarks yet. I sure wish he would defend them though. I deplore racism and would frown on anyone that refused a service to someone based on their skin color. I don't think Mr. Paul thinks one should either. A few questions that I do not have an answer for: 1. Is it against the law for a private citizen to be racist? 2. Is it against the law for a private citizen to discriminate? 3. Does the Constitution allow the Federal Government to determine whether or not a private business can "discriminate" or choose who they do, or do not serve? 4. Does the KKK, NAACP, or any other group that is of one color or race discriminate? Is it legal? 5. Is it legal for some to discriminate and illegal for others? A classic Chapelle Show comes to mind here....

Yes, if they are offering a public service/business and the discrimination is based on race/ religion/ national origin. 3. Does the Constitution allow the Federal Government to determine whether or not a private business can "discriminate" or choose who they do, or do not serve? Yes. 4. Does the KKK, NAACP, or any other group that is of one color or race discriminate? Is it legal? The NAACP is not of one color. As private groups they can discriminate in their membership. It is legal. 5. Is it legal for some to discriminate and illegal for others? Yes, the difference is in whether you are offering a public service/ business. I am sure one of the attorneys on here will correct me if I got any of it wrong.

IMO he should be talking to both the press and Kentuckians every chance he gets, and ignoring McConnell every chance he gets. If possible, he needs to clear this up and move on. He reminds me of Obama when avoiding tough questions. Obama can get away with it, Paul can't.
May 27, 201016 yr I know his poll numbers will change as the election progresses into the summer and fall, but last week Paul had a 59% to 34% lead over Conway (I think it was Rasmussen). I'm sure that lead will tighten some, but it appears Conway has a wide gap to close in this race.
May 27, 201016 yr So Conway will resort to scare tactics and not say anything about his own beliefs because Conway is WAY to the left of the average Kentuckian IMVHO. He can't win if if runs as the liberal (and rubber stamp for Obama) he is. In a state that has had ugly elections in the past this one has the potential to raise (or lower) that bar considerably, especially with both national parties being very involved.
