While we are talking about health, I think that could be an issue for Lebron at some point down the road with the style of play he currently has.

I agree.:thumb:

I went by the rosters on ESPN. I'll take OJ Mayo. My list would look like this...

1. OJ Mayo - Age 22

2. Monta Ellis - Age 24

3. Brandon Roy - Age 25

Wade is 28 and he's battled injuries throughout his career to date. By the end of my 7-year window he'll be 35 and I'm highly skeptical of what he'd have left at that point. Since I took Wall as my PG, I can't have my SG be over the will when my point man is just hitting his prime. I'd be a perennial playoff team...always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

Others I considered, Andre Iguodala, Ben Gordon, Joe Johnson, and Eric Gordon.

5 years from now I think Kobe will be just as healthy as DWade or Roy. Wade's game is going to go alot quicker than Kobe's IMO. Jordan was good at 36 and he took a year and 1/2 off. Kobe could do the same. I know he's played more games, but with the advances in health and nutrition, I don't see why he couldn't be effective that late in his career. He really doesn't rely on athleticism anyway and as long as he has Gasol and Bynum (who is going to continue to get better if his health doesn't fail him), he's not going to have a heavy work load in the regular season. JMO

Remember DWade is going on 29, and at least half of his game is athleticism. Kobe's 31 and relies on smarts and a filthy jumper.

Perhaps that year and a half off helped Jordan a little. Not from a pure basketball and timing standpoint, but it may have saved his body, allowed it to rest a little. There's a big difference in baseball and basketball, so while he wasn't laying on the couch, he wasn't going through the grind of a basketball season.

On the other hand, Kobe has already played about the same amount of basketball as Jordan did through his entire career, so at 31 Bryant has more wear on his body. He never takes a break. He's played through summers for the olympic team and when MJ was playing 35 game college seasons, Kobe was in the NBA. I don't think it's wrong to think he can be effective as he gets into his mid-30's, but I would be cautious in using MJ as the barometer.

I can't believe that I'm not only the only person to pick Mayo, but he hadn't even been mentioned yet. The guys got lots of potential and he's only 22 years old.

BTW, I guess we know who lbbc is going with at SF, since he suddenly switched Lebron to a 2. :sssh:

If were building this team for the furture id have to take wall an evans, I take evans over curry because i believe evans has a better abailty to defend the elite guards.

I like ccc comment about kobe relying on the jumpshot to me thats why he'll be able to play later into his career. players like wade an james i think will have a harder time adapting late in there careers. Both rely so much on their athlectism, their both above average shootors but neither are pure shooters. Not saying they cant develope just right now in their careers its not there. Streaky at best.

LeBron's shooting gets better every year, as does his post up game. I think he'll be fine.

My only question with Lebron is will his body hold up because of his size. Guys like Kobe and MJ are strong, but they're slender. Lebron is at least 260 pounds, and the athleticism and speed he gets with that size are what pushes his game to the next level. The grind of playing every season and his size might cause his body, knees in particular, to wear down faster than some others. But, that's a ways down the road if it happens.

That is going to be interesting to watch. He'll either lose it all quickly or keep it until his mid-30s. He's a different breed of athlete for the NBA, so we don't really know what will happen after 30 for him. I'd say smart money is on him breaking down pretty quickly....so he better continue to work on that jumper.

I would agree. It may not happen, but it just doesn't seem probably that his legs can maintain this level of explosiveness as the minutes pile up on a 260+ pound guy. Especially when you consider the load he carries for the Cavs.

He needs a Pippen or a Gasol or somebody like that. Those guys can stay on the court and allow their teams to keep playing a high level while the stars get a breather. Cleveland doesn't have it and it hurts them. They take a far more significant drop than the other playoff teams when their top guy sits.

Orlando is a little like that with Howard, but I think part of that is in addition to being their best player, he's their inside presence. All teams take a hit when their best big man is out, so it only makes it worse when he's your best player. Their supporting cast can pick up the slack, but without Howard they just lack too much in the paint. :idunno:

I would definitly agree with that. :D

I would love for LeBron to get a big man that could consistently score on the block. Shaq can do it, but we know that he can't have a big game all the time because of his age. Heck I would have been happy if they would have kept Boozer.

Well, since LeBron and Rondo are both picked as 2 guards by some people give me Carmelo.

1. Rose

2. Carmelo

Boozer would have made a huge difference, IMO. He could have been that complementary piece to raise the Cavs up a notch when it comes to playoff basketball.
