Tragic Loss In Ludlow

Featured Replies

Another tragic loss of a vibrant young coach.

This tragedy seems to mirror the loss of Mitch Orth, who was a young, popular basketball coach in the St. Mary/Bishop Brossart ranks. He too recently succumbed to heart failure at the age of 23.

Condolences to the Ludlow community. Hopefully, his players will rally around his loss, inherit his passion, and carry on his work.

Too sad!

Looking at the age of these two young men; the passion they had for their sports and choosing to give back and be in the business of molding young men; perhaps they were called back to Heaven to field a new team. It is very sad, but it gives me great comfort to know that for those young ones that are taken to early they have a couple of young souls to look after them.

Last night as I lay in bed unable to sleep again I thought of something very reassuring to me. The following is the story:

About 6 years ago when we were walking off of the football field after a long practice Jordan and I noticed one of the most beautiful scenes in nature. It was when there are just small breaks in the clouds on a cloudy day and the rays shine through very bright.

When it caught our eye out of the blue Jordan tells me, "You see that? When I see that I know there is a god and a heaven." At the time it made little sense to me, but for some reason anytime I saw that sight I would never forget what he had said.

On Friday night my father, little brother, and myself went to a baseball game at Lemker field in Ludlow. At about 6:30PM or so the sun broke throght the clouds and shined down over the city of Ludlow like it had the day Jordan told me what he did. I saw it thought about what he said, but didn't say a word.

Suddenly my 12 year old brother said, " Dude, is that heaven right there or what?" At about that time the paramedics went flying past the field and I later found out that they were going to Jordan's home. That was in fact Jordan going home. It was heaven after all. I have found this very comforting. There is no way it was a coincidence that he said that 6 years ago, I never forgot it, and little brother brought up it being heaven on the day and just about time he passed. My friend is in heaven with god, and I couldn't be happier for him.

What a beautiful story and it brings with it comfort.

I stopped by the visitation tonight that was from 4-8. I got there around 5 and the line stretched all the way down the street past Jordan's house. When I finally got into the funeral home at around 7:50, I looked back from the steps and the line still had stretched all the way down the street past Jordan's house. He was an incredible person and this just goes to show that one person really can make a difference in the world.

Ditto here. I got there about 4:30 and got to the funeral home at 8:00. It seemed like the whole town came out. When you walked in, they had placards all over with pictures of Jordan. It seemed that there was a smile on his face in every one. It was nice that Thomas More released his diploma early as well.

As you watched the visitors walk out, very few remained untouched by this young man. He will be greatly missed by all.

#5 ...I wanted to share this with you. Your post really touched me and I shared it with my mother who is very good friends with Jordan's grandmother who is great lady. I emailed my mother with your post and letting her know of Jordan's friends on BGP. I did not know Jordan but I know his grandmother and his aunts who I went to school with at Holmes. It is wonderful that someone so young touched so many people's lives. I hope you don't mind that I shared your post. Here is my mother's reply to me about your post :

You don't know how much this touched Jordan's family... They had it laid out at the visitation and Steven Blake read it at the church... I know it was God given ..for you to see ......... The vistation was to be over at 8:00... it lasted until 9:45...

The entire football team walked from school to visitatiion in their red jerseys and they were there this morning at the church out in Indep....and followed to Highland cemetry.....Sad sad day...........
