Justin Yeary named coach at Dunbar

Featured Replies

Justin Yeary has been named the new head boys basketball coach at Dunbar.

He was a girls asst coach at LCA and boys assistant at LCA.

Boyle County graduate who played for Mike Pittman in the mid- to late-1990s. Boyle made two state tournament appearances in 1998 and 1999, although I'm not sure if Yeary was still there at that point. He's been an 11th Region assistant for many years. I hope he does well.

They passed up on some serious coaches! Not sure I agree with this decision.

Who in the world is this? Surely Dunbar could hire a quality coach? Am I missing something?

WOW!

I think when these so-called "bigtime coaches" found out that neither the AD or the Principal where on the committee to hire, they figured something out about the job....

I would think coaching under Tommy Huston and Jason Seamends, he would be able to bring quite a bit of knowledge to Dunbar.

I love how just because you so called experts don't know who he is than he must not be a "quality," "big-time", "serious" coach. Ask the people that have coached with Justin Yeary and you will see this was a great hire for Dunbar.

I think Justin will do a great job. I know him personally and he knows his stuff. I just know there were some coaches with experience interested in the job until they found out the situation with the Admin. at PLD.

Who were the "Names" that applied for the job? None of the coaches I suspected/hoped even applied for the position. I think everyone wants experience but these days experience tells coaches to stay away from some jobs. I wish Justin goodluck, he has a lot to do.

He did play for both of Boyle Counties two state regions and state runs. He is an awesome choice and i know you will be seeing some changes made in both offense and defense! Congrats Justin!

Only time will tell.

Yea, that's typically how things work. Coach Yeary knows his stuff like very few. He is a great motivator, great X's and O's guy and will be perfect for this position. I'd say the AD and Admin had a year to get to know and were able to make a wise choice. It was probably hard to pass up all the assistants that have applied for every head job in the state but they made the right choice. It will take some time to turn Dunbar around but it will happen and then you will have a "big time" and "quality" coach at Dunbar.
