Beechwood 2010

In fact, Beechwood will probably not have many two way players at all this coming season. For a 1A school to play platoon football is impressive.

That will be impressive, and if it happens, it will win them a lot of ball games.

The reigns will be handed over to Collisimo (rightfully so), but he will be in a dog-fight to keep it...if he gets too comfortable in thinking he is "entitled" he will lose it to the junior because that kid has been putting in the off-season work...ya heard it here first :)

Who's the Junior that is challenging for the position?

Taylor Davis is the junior. I think the QB position is up for grabs like almost every position. There are a lot of quality players on the roster at every position. There are only two positions to me that are absolute locks, not because of lack of competition but because these two players are special - Vocke at RB and Staten at MLB.

Saw on another thread that Jalen Beal has moved to Beechwood. Can someone confirm? He is a fantastic athlete and should add some excitement to the upcoming season.

A third potential QB is Zach Larimore. He is probably one of the best athletes on the BW roster. As a sophomore he was in consideration for QB until the powers that be went with Daniels and then to Rigdon moving Larimore to a two way starter at both O and D end. The young man can flat out run, which would put him into the mold of past BW QBs, and he also has the strongest passing arm on the team. Experience is another question to be answered, none of the potential QBs have much experience in games that matter on the varsity level. Larimore was a two way starter during the last successful championship run. The question I have is this, can the coaches mold the offense to the players, or do they try to mold the players to the offense?

This team may not have the large bodies of the past, but over the past few years an emphasis has been placed on developing athletic skill at all positions. This is by far the strongest and most skilled team I have seen at BW since moving to Northern KY.

That says alot, because the team 2 years ago was one of the best I have seen at Beechwood.

If BW does in fact go to a platoon system, will they change the way they prepare during the week. Also who plays in the mop up situations.

I would guess the roster will be over 40 players so there will be plenty of players to go into a lopsided game.

I know some of the o line was hurt last year is everyone look healthy again?

And is Zac Larimore going to play this year?

Larimore has decided to pursue other interests.

How about CJ Bertke or Dylan Cottingham?

When was the last time either one played football, 8th grade don't think Cottingham or Bertke would take a chance of getting hurt, when both might have a shot at playing baseball at the next level. Plus I think they both will still be playing baseball until late October.

This is a major loss for the Beechies. That kid was hurt most of last year and he still showed superior athleticism during games that he played.

Nahhh, you can't miss what you haven't had. He hardly played at all last year. I am not saying he isn't a good football player. I am just saying that he did not contribute that much last year and will not be missed. They have two juniors that are over 6'2" that can play defensive end. Plus, they worked Brilz in at end last year in case one of them plays on the offensive side of the ball. I am not concerned about losing Larimore.
