Glad to see Timmy Knipp getting the respect he deserves! Think I saw a all-state last week were he was listed honorable mention, absolute joke, for what many consider our state's top talent.

 

The joke about that All-state list, is that Stenzel, Zollo, and Setty was left off the list and still made HM. They had to be written in. How can those players be left off the ballot??

That was the AP list. I like the Courier Journal's and Lex. Herald's list better. The All State Team of the Louisville High School Sports Examiner also made good selections for their teams.:ylsuper:

Behanan or not, think Mr. Basketball 2011 is a two horse race between Stenzel and Knipp! Stenzel being in Central Kentucky gives him a vote advantage but think Knipp gets the award in the end by possibly taking all the mountain votes and "stealing" some of Stenzel's base votes.

 

I think you might be wrong on both parts. Behanan is far and above both players. That's not a knock on either because Stenzel and Knipp are both VERY GOOD, but see Chane on the AAU circuit this summer. He not only dominates at the high school level, but he dominates some of the NATION'S top talent as well on the AAU circuit.

 

I believe Timmy averages maybe 10 ppg. The comparison between Knipp and Behanan isn't even close.

During the high school season, he averaged close to 30 ppg playing in one of the worse regions in the state where he was constantly defended by kids 3 and 4 inches smaller than him. Not a knock on TK as I've constantly said he is a very talented kid, but those are just the facts.

 

Behanan on the other hand, has dominated both in high school and on the AAU circuit since his freshman year in high school. During this time, he has played in the Cincinnati Public League which is one of the better leagues in Southwest Ohio, while also playing for one of the better known AAU programs in the COUNTRY with Ohio Basketball Club (OBC).

 

Chane has went up against the likes of Jarred Sullinger and held his own from day 1. If Behanan doesn't win Mr. Basketball next year, it won't be because of him not being the best player in the state, but rather "politics" that are involved in high school basketball with awards like this. See Josh Sewell this year as a perfect example.

 

Plain and simple...there's a reason why Chane is considered one of the top 100 players in the country for 2011 and kids like Knipp and Stenzel aren't.

I'm talking about last year...not this year. And not sure when you saw Chane play but I saw him play several times over the summer and not once did I see him take a lot of shots like you say.

 

Don't let one game be your judgement of his game.

The general consensus around here has been that George clearly won the first meeting, may have won the second meeting but it was very close, and then clearly lost the last two, especially the district finals. George also plays on the better team, while Chane pulls his team up more often than not. The postseason matchups were outstanding by Chane, especially the region finals. I don't agree with this statement. The season hasn't even started yet. There is time for other players to develop even more and with teenage kids you never know what may happen with them. Lets let the season play out next year and then argue over whos Mr. Basketball.

I agree.

If knipp gets rid of the laziness and bad attitude hes got a shot at 2011 Mr. Basketball. Saw him play multiple games this year and the only time I saw him stick someone defensively was in the district tournament. Hes got to do that all the time...... not just when he wants to. The BIG schools aren't going after someone that doesnt play on both ends of the floor.

I think defense is a weakness for many of the so-called top players who get noticed primarily for taking a lot of shots and scoring a lot of points. Let's face it, defense is not as glamorous and noticeable to lots of fans.
