For two better choices for school lunches (this might go toward pub's and pri's) For trey If a student is showing excellent skill at a sport force him to give it up and play something else. For ...um... four have all the privates play in their own tournament. For this is the way it is written. Oh yeah the Sultan says drop all sports programs and take up backgammon. Why don't those schools in those two counties and the Lexington schools have open enrollment like some of the public schools in Louisville and NKY do?

Wouldn't that make them "level" with LexCath except they wouldn't cost as much to attend?

 

No because the public schools can't send a select few kids, from all over the state, all sorts of literature and what not, inviting them to their school for games, shadowing, placement tests, or open houses. Although we all know the catholic schools are just recruiting students. Also, our local Catholic school has a 15 passenger van drive into Radcliff and pick up students...some of which are pretty good ball players. I didn't know it was illegal to do such a thing (assuming it is).

Sure you can send literature. Heck the public schools in NKY place ads in the newspaper inviting all famililes no matter where they live to their open house and listing all of their positive points. If your public schools don't do that, it is because of their own rules.

Not according to the KHSAA. A general add in the paper is a lot different than sending 10 kids in XYZ County a letter inviting them out to spend the day and enroll. The KHSAA frowns on schools (public or private) picking 10 kids and sending them literature.

Unless you all the mailman for the entire area how do you know who got what literature?

 

If you are positive that only a select few athletes get literature, then you should report it to the KHSAA and you can be a hero when that school is disciplined and this can all be over.

You should be spending your time sending notification of recruiting violations to the KHSAA. Report those violations. The private schools and public schools will be happy that those not following the rules will be disciplined.

I would guess that given the current climate, no school would be foolish enough to send literature to only athletes. It would be a violation. Second, sending a van to Radcliff to pick up only athletes would be a violation. If the van is offered to all students in the area, it is not a problem.

Okay, using your information if I may, if I lived in Frankfort and had a kid and wanted to send him/her to a private school then my closest choice is LexCath?

I'm changing schools!That schools football team is awesome! I'm going to school there!Also the taxpayers wouldn't allow it because of the lost money if your schools weren't the chosen ones.Busing would also be a disaster.Thats why you go to school in your area and not across the county or town.

Rose Hill Christian bused kids from Huntington WV to Ashland and back in 2000-2002. WOW??!!! Its not right PERIOD!!!

Onetoya, you should tell the whole story- not just what suits Ashland. Rose Hill ran a bus along a route that picked up any and all of its students who lived in nearby Ohio and West Virginia whether they were athletes or not. A bus has also been run to Carter County for the same purpose. Actually, a number of the athletes from these areas were old enough to drive to school and did so as well as bringing along some of their non-driving student-neighbors. Therefore, your accusation is stated without full disclosure. Of course, Ashlanders were never interested in facts- only what furthered their cause with KHSAA. The impression you wish to give of private transportation for Mayo, Dawson, and King is, taken in its "best Ashland light", blatantly "incomplete".

Somehow, I'll bet that Ashland has athletes who ride the bus. Of course that may not include the Ashland athletes who actually live outside the Ashland school boundary. Now, we at Rose Hill aren't keeping the telephone lines hot between here and Executive Drive. Maybe Ashland should adopt a similar policy. In case you haven't noticed, the Mayo Era in local athletics is over. Rose Hill has moved on. It would be good for you Ashlanders to heal your wounds and move on, also.
