October 21, 200520 yr Let's clear something up here. Any school can build an artificial turf stadium public or privae as long as all teams that COULD use it have access to it. Don't 2 public schools in Lexington have turf fields? And two in NKY!!
October 21, 200520 yr Let's clear something up here. Any school can build an artificial turf stadium public or privae as long as all teams that COULD use it have access to it. Kind of. Except that the real militant Title IX-enforcement types will then insist that you give equal access to said turf stadium to boys (football) and girls (field hockey, soccer) during "premier" time slots like Friday nights. There have already been squabbles (perhaps even lawsuits) in other states claiming that scheduling boys sports on Fridays and relegating girls sports using the same facilities to say, a weeknight, is a violation of Title IX (even though the football or basketball game will bring in positive revenue and the girls sport will not).
October 21, 200520 yr Hasn't hampered the above named schools has it? How about girls sports get the field when boys teams are away including Friday nights. Easy solution. BTW isn't Male's stadium quite a bit bigger and more structurally dynamic then about 95% of the other public schools in Jefferson County?
October 21, 200520 yr PROPOSAL 13 Proposed by the KHSAA Board of Control – An amendment to Bylaw 23 to allow for the forfeiture of championship competition in the unlik ely event of the use of an ineligible competitor. PROPOSAL 18 Proposed by the KHSAA Board of Control – An amendment to Bylaw 33 to ensure that the forfeiture of a championship contest, redistribution and removal of records remain options in the case of the use of an ineligible player. Both these passed today if I am not mistaken. While I have not decided where I stand on what has happened today, I have a question. Where would Highlands trophy be if these were in place last year? I like to refer to these as the Highlands Proposals
October 21, 200520 yr In reality I feel certain that the Highlands issue last year was the instigator of these proposals.
October 21, 200520 yr In reality I feel certain that the Highlands issue last year was the instigator of these proposals. Which should have led HHS to support Prop 20, right...
October 21, 200520 yr BTW isn't Male's stadium quite a bit bigger and more structurally dynamic then about 95% of the other public schools in Jefferson County? Yep. Second only to Manual Stadium in capacity as far as I know. I don't know what structurally dynamic means, but would it have made sense to hamstring the (historically) most dominant football program in JCPS with a "cookie cutter" 4,000 seat stadium that it would chronically overfill? I mean, if you have a family of eight, you don't go out and buy a Honda Civic for family transportation--you buy something that has enough room for your needs. And Male had quite a football program before the current stadium was built--it wasn't like they built the stadium and POOF! instant powerhouse.
October 21, 200520 yr I never said I agreed with these proposals, just that it was my opinion that this was what brought this to light.

October 21, 200520 yr It is a tense time for sure. Regardless there are good points to be made by both sides. I agree its gonna hurt some more than others. I feel that there are problems with the "R" word in both public and private schools. The best way for this to be solved is the KHSAA to enforce the current rules.

So the equal is OK as long as Male is not made to be equal. I understand now. If the powers that be in Jefferson County are as concerned about Equal and level playing field and all that other malarchy they have been spewing, then yes Male should have been hamstrung (your words not mine) wit the saem facilities as every other school in the county. And BTW how often does the Field Hockey team at Male play Friday night games in that stadium. Maybe someone needs to contact the Title IX authorities.
