By the way I just picked up a book by Elmore Leonard called "Raylan." Leonard's "Fire In the Hole" is what the series is based upon.

Raylan went on sale yesterday didn't it? The Raylan Givens is also a secondary character in a couple other Leonard novels too.

The wife & I purchased the first two seasons. We've watched both & are two episodes (I think) into this third season. Thanks to Clizzy & former for giving recommendations.

 

* Season one was pretty good. First episode was as strong an opener that I could imagine. The next few episodes were good, but certainly not up to par with the pilot. Then the latter fourth (or so) of the season was really good again.

 

* Second season was excellent. Much of this had to do with Mags. I didn't like her at first, but she grew on me. I knew she was going to do what she ended up doing & I thought that scene was one of the best.

 

* Season three has started off strong too. Not sure what I think of the one fella with the white hair & funky eyes, but I'm really pumped about Bubba Gump being in this. The scene with the underling of his who had messed up was fascinating.

 

* The show's primary strength, for me at least, is Boyd Crowder. He's such a diverse character. Raylan is solid too, but I admit somewhat of a personal disdain for him because my wife won't quit talking about how hot he is. Plus, my first introduction with the actor portraying him was Scream 2 when he was one of the killers. I thought he was a weirdo then. Also saw him in The Crazies, where he played a country cop. Foreshadowing?

 

* Very excited to see how it's all going to play out. I love that it takes place in Kentucky.

I"m pretty sure I read somwhere that he actively follows 16th region girls basketball. I'd be worried.

S3 has gotten really good. I can't wait for tonight's episode. Also on the Justified front, the show was renewed for another season!!!

Quality music throughout the show. The closing song in the pilot, "Someday I'll Be Forgiven For This" was from one of my favorite artists, Justin Townes Earle. In the funeral scene from S2 they use the very poignant "Annabelle" by Gillian Welch. I'm also certain the Drive-By Truckers were featured but can't remember when.

I've tried to like this show, I really have.

 

But I hate it.

Music has been really good through out the series. Series is starting to build a very solid list of one-liners and quotes as well....hard to pick a favorite but in E1S1 I loved when Tim asked," You want me to kill em or wing em" and Art replied, "Let's start with winging them"

The group that sings the theme song is Gangstagrass. I have listened to a bunch of their music, and it is so diverse and different. If you have a chance, download some of their work or YouTube it. I've fallen in love with both the music and the show. Pumped for tonights episode!
