Dale JR can not drive

Featured Replies

Once again he showed he can not drive when his car dont handle well. I can remember his dad would drive it no matter what adn so does others in NASCAR today. He is my favorite, but he can not drive.

He has lived off his dads name for years. I think even he would tell you he is a middle of the pack guy.

I watched the Daytona 500, LUCK, but he does run good at the big tracks.

Broken axle, many more drivers could have done better. He IMO can not tell the crew chief what to do and how to fix up the car during the race. He isnt even middle of pack racer.. He does live of dads name, needs to be mean like dad and wreck whoever gets in his way.

If he knew how to take off after a pit stop he wouldn't have broke his axle.

The way he drove in the last two laps of the 500 looked pretty good to me. Did you guys not see how he zig zagged his way through traffic and almost won the race? What he did in those last two laps alone was amazing. Jr's biggest problem is luck. Think of all the DNF's hes had in the past couple of years. Many of which, mechanical failures, and wrecks he could not control, don't really come back to bad driving.

To some degree...but the guy has had some success on the track. He's obviously struggled in recent years.

To be CLEE-shay, the name is both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, its a huge reason for his popularity, for his opportunities, etc. On the other, huge expectations come with it. Dale Earnhardt was arguably the greatest driver in NASCAR history, so its unreasonable to expect anyone to be him. Whether people expect or want Jr. to be like or as good as his dad is up for debate, but they certainly expect him to be one of the elite drivers in the sport. As of now, that doesn't seem to be the case.

He's a good driver. Anyone who watched him at the end of the Daytona 500 can see that. But, there are a lot of good drivers on the Nextel Cup circuit. Few are elite. I think Jr. falls in with that group of good, but not elite, drivers.

NASCAR is a difficult sport to judge an individual's skill level, IMO. Even the best guys endure struggles, sometimes extended periods of struggles. So much of your success is dependent upon the car, the people who build it and your pit crew on race day. The best driver in the world couldn't sniff the Chase without the other parts working. That's just a general observation, not a defense of Little E. There's no argument to be made for lack of support when you're a part of the Hendrick stable. But, I wouldn't write him off just yet. I'd give him a little more time with his new team to see what they can do.

His new team was with him most of the time last year and all off season. Still did bad. He has the best he can get from team. Needs to be more agressive and bump people out of way.

Bet he isnt in top 15 this weekend. He may start off good but I bet he fades toward the end like always.

Very possible. I'm just saying its a little early to write him off in 2010 because of a bad finish in the second race of the year...this following a second at Daytona.

With a year under their belt, if he's going to start making some noise with Hendrick, it seems like it should be this year. If he can't, then it doesn't seem likely he's ever going to be a serious threat to win a title.

Daytona and Talledega is it. I am a big fan, but Dale Jr. can't get it done on the track. I wouldn't even say "middle of the road" driver. I think the fame and the name has done him more harm. He doesn't need to win races to make money. The name already makes it for him.

Just watched practice Dale JR was the fastest oh but he cant drive whatever!!!!

I don't think the question is if Junior can drive or not. The question is how bad does he want it? I think since he had that fiery crash out in Sonoma it rattled him. He doesn't drive as much in the other series and I think he's not razor sharp like alot of other racers are.

JR drives in the Nationwide Series more than he ever has oh yea JR haters hes in the top 10 right now wow everyone behind him must really suck!

JR finished 16th. Top 3 of 4 were from Hendrick. Laps led were 0 for JR. Had some guys finish ahead of him like Marcos Ambrose and should never finish ahead of a good team. Until JR is a consistent top 10 finisher, he will never be considered a good driver.
