Clarks defense in the second half won the game. Zollo kept them in the game the first half and Daniels, Zollo and Rogers added the punch the second half. The big boy from Scott fouling out was a blow for Scott. Scott had a well coached team but limited on depth. Smith is one fine guard.

IMO Kellen Smith is the best PG in the region. I'm sure that could be debated until the cows come home, but he can flat out play. With, or without Robbie Stenzel, GRC/Scott is always a great game.

I had talked to coach Carr before at games, but had not met his family. I was honored to do so.

 

I knew it would be a close game. These two teams always battle to the end. We have just been fornutate to come out on the winning end...so far.

Saturday's student section was nothing like it usually is. Also, #3 liked talking to the fans, as well. Should've just played ball.

The Clark County student section is disrespectful and plain mean. They harass players from the opposing team instead of supporting Clark County. When the student section talks about the opposing teams players family, which they do not know, it is quite disturbing. When Harrison played at Clark it was awful. No disrespect to the community of Clark County but I believe the student section needs to concentrate more on supporting their team then criticizing the other, ecspecially players' personal lives.

I hope that you are not a basketball dad, because if you would want your kid to respond to what happens in the stands; then you are teaching them to play right into the fans hands. But then of course, you are probably one of those same parents that blame everyone but your kid when things are not going good. Nice job dad.

Ignore them and play ball. Believe me you wouldn't believe what all Zollo has had to endure. At the classic in NKY last year he had a parent from the opposing team follow him to the locker room. This parent had yelled at him the whole game. Unreal behavior for an adult.

Madison Central had huge big signs that were very personal towards Stenzel and Zollo. Didn't take long for them to silent the crowd with their play on the court. Our kids have gotten used to it and if anything it gets them fired up.

The only difference I have seen between the Clark kids and those at other schools is that they usually are a larger group and therefore louder and the opposing fans and players actually hear them. The same type of cheers and chants go on at most high school and even college games. Not saying I agree but the issue is not a Clark problem but just the way things are.

 

The worst thing is when a player or visiting fan gets involved. That is when things threaten to get out of hand, such as the end of the Clark/ Scott County game or when the fans storm the court at the end of a college game. I for one completely agree with the SEC policy of banning the storming of the court.

From a former players standpoint, a player is not focused on the game if he lets the opposing schools student section get the best of him. The one thing that was different when I played in the 70's, it did not matter what your record was, when basketball was played the gyms were at least 3/4 full. Students supported their schools. I know! Another subject.
