Corbin is at least 10 points better than Clay in Manchester. Playing a hard schedule and not beating any of those teams just show me that Clay can't beat the big boys.

I think Clay is a competitive 13th Region team. They are not one of the big boys in the state but Corbin isn't either. Corbin and Clay played early while Clay was still adjusting to the loss of JV Hooker. This will be a very competitive game if they were to meet in the region.

Corbin won't overlook any team come tournament time. There are several teams capable of beating Corbin if the Hounds don't take them seriously.

I think that Clay County is a very dangerous team. If you catch them on a night when they are hitting the three at a high percentage, they will be hard to beat. They always play hard, play good defense and are fundamentally sound, so add in a hot night shooting the ball and that makes for an extremely hard out for anyone in the 13th region.

If you want recognition then you have to play a schedule that earns it. For ex. Male twice, Trinity, Seneca, Eastern, Scott Co., Lex Cath, Mason Co., Lafayette, and Ballard. I left a couple out. No matter the outcomes you will garner attention because these are some of the best programs in the state. By the way Clark County has all of these teams on their schedule. I fully believe if Corbin would put half of the teams on this list on the schedule and do well against them, win or lose, they would get more recognition.

 

Clark County has proven without a doubt that they are one of the elite teams in the state this year. I hope they do well in the postseason.

 

I'm not sure why Corbin's schedule is a little down this year, could be one of many reasons, but I'm not privy to that info. I personally thought that Corbin would not be as good as they are this year after losing the four kids they lost from last year, but you have to give credit to the players for stepping up their game and to the coaches for preparing them.

Otherwise, North Laurel has played Corbin again, Clark County, PRP, and some would count Madison Southern, so I'll give you a benefit of the doubt there.

 

In contrast, Clay County has played Franklin County, Henry Clay twice, Jeffersontown, Fern Creek, Perry Central, Hazard, and Lexington Catholic. They also have a game remaining against Tates Creek. Additionally, they've scrimmaged McCreary Central and Louisville Moore.

 

Smells like some Corbin bias in that one, as strange an association as that may seem.
