All A: Murray 55 Walton-Verona 33

Not every parent and fan. Some of us support the coach and let him do his job. There is sometimes more that goes on than meets the eye from the stands.

I support the coach and know that things go on behind the scenes that people aren't aware of. However, what justification can a coach give for benching his two best players on their biggest stage of the year? Walton didn't have a chance of winning without them and they didn't. The All A State title is what most of the small schools dream of winning, it is their championship. The girls work hard to try to accomplish this and it is not fair to them to not even give them a chance because the coach is trying to prove a point or send a message. I'm just confused about why such a drastic move was made during such a critical game. Again, hopefully they will rebound and finish strong.

You must admit that it is :idunno: something big. Motivating / sending a message in this manner during a State "A" run is confusing? If that is what it was.

I don't think it would be to sacrfice State "A" and using it (whatever) to motivate them for the 32nd / 8th with a shot at a possible run to the big time?

Sure makes Monday nights match-up at SK interesting.

Absolutely agree!!! It's very sad that the coach seemed to give up on his team in the third quarter even though they were struggling. They never had a chance after half time. I know they were not playing their best but his decisions did not help the situation one bit either. Great job to the girls' anyways!

WOW! Be happy for what you have accomplished.

So what you're saying is all bets are off at the All-A tournament? For example, kids miss curfews the night before a game but it's the All-A so it's ok? That kind of thing?

We aren't in the locker room before the game. Or at halftime. I've seen and heard of many things that transpire before a game or at halftime that results in a kid sitting out. However, the fans and general public have no clue as to why.

I'd rather make a point now with a month left in the season and get the problem fixed than have it rear it's head in the region tournament when there is no time to fix it.

Dixon and Sandlin are two great girls! I know that neither one of them would have done anything against the rules. Whether it was missing a curfew or even not following the direction of their coach. That just would not be the case for these two young ladies.

I guess the fans are never happy!

These girls did accomplish a great thing. But... It should have not stopped there. It would have been better if they could have done what they went there for and that was to compete to their best and try to go as far as they could. IMO i feel that the girls were stripped of that from a decision that was made.

You all have a good coach and still seem to find all the negatives. When will it ever stop, same old story but different year! Rules ARE rules PERIOD!

It still wouldn't have made any difference even if they had beaten Murray they wouldn't have made it past NCC on saturday anyhow .

I guess the fans are never happy!

They were when they won the 8th Region All A tournament and are still happy. It's been a great year but some of us are confused about what went on at the State. Those two girls are great kids and the leaders of the program.

No they are just trying to find out and discuss why the two best players were sat there is nothing wrong with that..

Not to be rude or offend anyone...but.....I don't think that it is anyone's business why they did not play. Obviously there was a reason. That was a decision that was made by Coach Miller. He must have thought that it was a good enough reason for them to get some bench time. Whatever happened to the old saying "what happens in the locker room stays in the locker room".

Not everyone is going to agree with the decision that is made but it was made. Coach Miller has done an outstanding job. They have a bigger picture that they are shooting for and it is a very possible one. :thumb:

If memory serves, both of Walton-Verona's big girls had two fouls and sat much of the first half. My thought was that Miller decided to stay with the smaller lineup and try to attack Murray's zone from the perimeter.

Who made the all tourney team for Walton?
