Sweet 16 Region 10 vs. Region 5

I mean I guess we can't have a down year...:puke:

Two state titles and a few state Tourny Berths in the 2000's.

Mason Co will have something to say come March.

BBI, its ok brother, our best basketball is ahead. We are getting healthy and I have never made that an excuse. You fight through those things in athletics and not use as a crutch like I know I have heard so many times from.... without naming names:sssh:

Maybe I can search out Captain Obvious and he can deliver the names:lol:

Barring any injuries GRC is the favorite to represent the 10th. GRC is the only state ranked team in the 10th at #6 in the state. They have played a very tuff schedule and should be battle tested. We need to take one game at a time and just take care of business.

Granted they have played a tough schedule, but if you can't beat any of the top teams, then is it really making you better? Sooner or later, the thought of "man we can play with the good teams, we just can't beat them" has to come in GRC's minds.

Should Clark County make it, I see their ability to pound the ball inside and punish teams on the glass as a huge advantage in Rupp. There have been plenty of teams that play run 'n' gun and see their FG %'s plummet when playing in a huge, unfamiliar arena with an open shooting background and roll-in baskets; this is especially true of teams who haven't had the experience of playing in Rupp. Much of this is alleviated with a grinding offense predicated on getting close looks.

One big disadvantage that I see for the 10th region is their draw. I think it's a huge disadvantage to have to play in the fourth session, then the sixth session, the later of the games in the seventh session, then the eighth session as opposed to playing in the first, taking a day of rest before playing the third, fifth, early in the seventh, then the eighth.

The last team to come out of the fourth session to win the title was Warren Central in 2004, before that, it was 2000 and Elizabethtown. Each of these teams had a game in which they blew out opponents and stole some minutes of rest for their starters, something that will be a huge key for anyone hoping to win out of the fourth session.

If you are blown out by top teams you play I say you are right, GRC has been in a position to win in the end of ALL of the games they lost to the states best! If you can play with the best and only lose by a possession or two you may be able to catch a break the next time you see them. Sorry Les, GRC is for real! They have as good a chance as anyone to cut down the nets at Rupp as any other top ranked team! That and they have ONE senior on the floor sometimes!:ylsuper::banana::p

Same people said the same things last season I rememeber all of them eating their words. I remember how the High Horse GRC couldn't be beat, and what happened last year? :thumb::sssh:

Where did that come from? We knew going into the regional game we could lose. Since you keep bringing up the past and what Mason Co has done. Remember 2007 and no way Mason Co would lose the region? Think a few words were eaten that year. Mason Co are the ones that planned a party before they won the region. :sssh:

They are a very good team. But to state they are for real, they need to actually beat some of the big boys first. If they come out of their region the draw is set up good for them, but like I said, sooner or later they need to beat one of the big boys instead of playing teams close. :thumb::ylsuper:

I think teams that have the size of Clark County do very well in the state tournament if they can survive the first two rounds (assuming they get there).

Some of the better teams in the state are run and gun teams that rely on their athleticism to score and rebound. By the time those teams get to the semi's their legs and jumping ability are wearing down a bit. The bigger teams have the advantage. Paintsville is a good example the year they won it. They survived a couple of close calls to get to the semi's and then their bigs took over to win it for them.

If Clark can make it to Rupp I like their chances as good as anyone's to cut down the nets. The 10th draw is not too bad with the exception of having to play 3 straight days.

Seriously, I think Mason and GRC would make for an exciting final in the 10th, if they both make it that far. Some of the other teams in the 10th could possibly have something to say also.
