Pre-season most would say the 9th was a group of three teams: Holmes, Boone County, and Highlands.

 

Boone has had some dissapointing losses but show that they can be a great team. Highlands has had flashes of brilliance and times where we scratch our head. Holmes at times looks uninterested but have the talent to be great.

 

Most said that Newports was a sleeper, I think they are proving that to be the case. If I am ranking who has the best shot at this point to win the region it looks like this...

 

Holmes, Boone County, Newport......then you can throw in Ryle, Highlands, Conner, and a few others who could make a run.

 

I think this year is shaking out to be a lot like we predicted. Anyone else?

 

Quick question. Newport just beat NewCath by 3, and NewCath beat Newport earlier in the season. How are they that much further ahead of NewCath that they can make a run and NewCath can't? It all depends on the draw. If NewCath/Newport or Highlands/Newport draw in the first round of districts, then very conceivably Newport out in the first round, just as well as NewCath. I don't see Newport beating a full strength Highlands team after the smackdown they put on earlier in the year. These 3 teams better hope that they draw opposite of the other two.

So I am assuming that tonights game between Conner and Boone is the seeding game?

 

How do we know that the first matchup wasn't the seeding game? How do we find out which game is the seeding game for all of the other matchups? i.e. Conner vs. Cooper, Conner vs. Ryle, Boone vs. Cooper, Boone vs. Ryle. Another question, are officials aware of which game is the seeding game?

 

I thought that both district games now counted in district seedings, as of last year.

I don't know man. I see Highlands beating Newport based on the fact that they were embarrassed earlier in the year. However, if NewCath is hot from the outside, they could beat almost anyone in the region. If they are cold, Highlands will beat them by 10+.

From what I have been told, the 33rd District is using both games against opponents home and away to determine seeding. I have a very hard time believing that point margin has anything to do with a tie-breaker scenario. (Not many coaches would agree to this because coaches want to empty their bench if a game get out of hand) If Boone beats Conner then the seeds are set. If Conner wins, then Boone would have to beat Ryle to have a chance at the number 1. Stay tuned!!!!

Not according to what the KHSAA says.

I believe that things were changed in the 33rd when St. Henry left the district.

Fair enough and very legit point but regardless of whether or not they voted to seed, I'm pretty sure it'd still be a blind draw as to who would get the #1, #2, and #3 seeds because all three would finish 3-1 in the district. (Assuming everyone plays everyone)

 

Newport- W Highlands, Dayton, Bellevue; L- Newcath (3-1)

Highlands- W Newcath, Dayton, Bellevue; L- Newport (3-1)

Newcath- W- Newport, Dayton, Bellevue; L- Highlands (3-1)

I agree too, but the Fayette Co schools would have a fit, because they won't play Lexington Catholic. This would make the ones in their district have to play them. That could get real interesting...:popcorn:
