Xbox v PS3

Featured Replies

I am debating which to get. I have had the PS3 before and I loved it. I have always been a Sony guy, but I really like the idea of Xbox live. Suggestions?

The online of the 360 is just miles ahead of PS3's online IMO. They only problem with the 360 is the RROD.

That's a problem that alot of people I know have. They say they (Microsoft) are pretty good at fixing them.

PS3 imo.

Multiple RROD's will make you want to punch a baby penguin.

They do a good job about when getting it. Believe me, had it 4 times. Its a pain but if your looking for mainly online go 360. There are many more people on XBL and Sony's online.

The RROD isn't as much of a problem now with the newer Xbox 360's.

And even if you get it, they will fix it for free, and give you 1 free month of Xbox Live. So don't worry about RROD.

If you want "Blu Ray" go for PS3. If you don't care about Blu Ray, or you already have a blu ray player, then go for the xbox 360. Blu Ray is the only advantage I can think of that the PS3 has.

I have both and the Ps3 is better.

I've played both and the xbox 360 is much much much better, game play wise.

The blu ray is a nice addition so I can't blame anyone for getting a PS3 if they are interested in that though.

If you mean online, yes, if not then no... However, ps3 isn't as far behind as everyone says.

Some stats on just how often the RROD occurs and how "helpful" Microsoft's customer support is:

The Xbox 360 breaks five times as often as its closest failure-prone competitor, the PlayStation 3, a print edition-only Game Informer survey found.

The poorly manufactured, red ring of death-prone console has a 54.2 percent failure rate, compared to 10.6 percent for the PS3 and the Wii's 6.8 percent.

...Microsoft also seized the gold medal for unhelpful customer service, taking nearly a month to repair or replace a console, while Nintendo and Sony stuck closer to a week. Only 37.7 percent of Microsoft customers found the company's customer service was "very helpful," compared to 51.1 percent fo Sony and 56.1 percent for Nintendo.

IMO, it's crazy that Microsoft would continue to sell such a product. Is it good while it works? Sure, but over half the people that buy them get RROD. Just because Microsoft has customer service that will repair the problem for free, doesn't justify making such an unreliable product.

Oh, and do you really want to be system-less for a month or more?

I have had two Xbox 360's that have failed, but both were replaced for free and I first bought mine over 3 years ago.

Will PS3 fix your console if it breaks after 3 years? Will they fix it after 1 year?

Microsoft may have some major flaws causing them to fail, but while they work, they are far better for gaming.

The PS3 is a glorified blu ray player. It's very nice if you need a blu ray, and want to play video games. I already have a Panasonic Blu Ray Player, so I don't need a PS3. Therefore I love having my xbox, and xbox live.

I mean both.

No way.. I have both and the only reason I play 360 is because I have more friends on it. Graphics on my t.v. look better with the ps3, the relay is smoother and it lags way less. It is far superior.

Xbox's controller fits in your hand better, but the Ps3 is more sensitive and gives you a more realistic feel. On MW2 the Ps3 controls are set up better than the 360's as well.
