January 6, 201313 yr I bet over 50% hired since the Rooney Rule were hired as a direct result of the rule. I doubt in the initial interview because most teams know who they are targeting, but it opens up the name for references and future considerations. So indirectly because of the Rooney Rule some may have been hired because of it.

January 6, 201313 yr I have hired many many people during my career. In our current structure there is a set number of applicants (internal or external) that must be interviewed for any available position. I can tell you from first hand experience that in most cases I have went into the process with a particular applicant in mind that I though was going to get the job/position and maybe 1 out of 5 times have they actually been hired/promoted. So from my experience the Rooney Rule is a good thing. Any applicant that gets interviewed has a chance to win that job, even if they were off of the radar to begin with.
