I can see Danville coming back in a big way next year.

Boyle football coach Larry French had little information other than he knows Dunn is now at Boyle.

 

“We got a phone call (Monday) that said that he’s coming here to enroll. Other than that, I don’t know much about it,” French said.

 

Dunn started the season at quarterback for the Admirals before injuring himself in the season opener. He switched to running back and ran for 886 yards and 11 touchdowns and had six catches for 73 yards and a score. He earned Advocate-Messenger All-Area honors at defensive back, where he had 37 solo tackles, one assist and six tackles for loss.

 

Dunn would give the Rebels a much-needed backfield lift with the loss of 3,000-yard rusher Rees MacShara, who also led the team in interceptions.

I hate to see it, but its his final season and maybe his best shot at getting attention from college scouts. Boyle County's program is definately higher profile at this point in time. Sam Harp needs to make some tough decisions and draw some lines in the sand. The Danville players are soft on defense and until they make a comitment to get stronger in the weight room, they are going to continue to get pushed around. Some of the Danville players are still comitted but not enough. Maybe Will Dunn and his family were afraid of the same old song and dance this year. I'm Admiral to the bone but its evident that things have been in decline with the football program for several years. The last playoff game against Green County was embarassing to say the least. I only hope the coaching staff gets tough and not just talk about it, even if player numbers drop thats what needs to happen if they want to get things back on track.

It's amazing that some of you think a program that just played in the State Championship 3 football seasons ago, is now in decline. Most programs never make it once. Danville has been there 10 times in Harp's 22 years. That averages a trip to the state finals every 2.2 years. The only thing going on with this transfer is with the young man and his parents. They are looking for instant gratification and have their own agenda at heart and not with the team. Why else would he move after having attended the Danville School system from kindergarten until now? The parents are not moving and the father does not even have custody. Danville has only 3 losing seasons since 1924 and ranks 30th on the National All-Time Win list and 10 State Championship Titles. That should be pretty good in anybody's book. Especially, considering that 95% of their non-district opponents are schools that double or triple Danville in enrollment. Most schools their size won't play them. Let's don't jump ship.

Danville will be fine. Great post thepointafter. People tend to forget what great success the ADS have had. This team this past yr reminded me much of the 1999 team. That team went 7-6. What happened in 2000 and 2001 was state titles. Just some food for thought.

I was told his father lives in the Boyle County school district and that Will had been living with his mother.

I'll be surprised if the KHSAA rules him elgible just because he is supposedly living with his dad now.He established his elgiibility at Danville and I've heard of this happening before with other kids going to live with the other parent and they were ruled inelgible

I in no means am jumping ship, and yes the program has declined since their last trip to the championship game. I don't think its Sam Harp's coaching, he has proven himself. I think he has sufferred from some very good assistants retiring over the last 10 years or so Brandt, Mc Afee, Reynolds. I also think that some of the group of kids he has had to work with lack discipline, respect, and dedication. If you want to stay on top you have to comit to the team to get better and stronger that means year round. You can't just go out for football go thru the motions, so you put on an Admiral uniform on friday night. You observe all of the sucessful programs in the state and can tell they are serious about their programs. I played 78,79,80,81. Before that I went to games even when they played at Centre's field, I have been a part of Danville football as long as I can remember. I haven't missed many games in all these years, with that being said in the last couple of years things have changed fo the worse. I really think its a combination of a streak of lesser talent, but mainly the attitudes of some of the players and their lack of respect for the coaches. I know Tom Duffy was hard core, but he would not have put up with some of the nonsense that some of these players have exhibited in the last few years. I know times have changed since then and Coach Harp is hand cuffed a little with dealing with some of these players. We have some really good talent coming up I hope that these kids will restore the pride back in to Danville football. Will Dunn maybe looking for instant gratification, I wished he would have stayed, I know his dad showed a lot of frustration last year at times, it was their decision, maybe it will work out for them. I will continue to support the football and go to the games, but changes are going to have to happen to get back on track.:madman:

When you are a small school, the talent pool can sometimes shift, especially when you have a couple of classes back to back that are not very talented. I hope your right, they may have to cut some of that non dedication and only have 30 players on the roster. It's also sickening to see that some of the players that are not dedicated, are talented.:puke: What a waste. In my opinion even though they won some championships after the coaches I mentioned, some of there replacements are questionable at best.

Disorganized on the sidelines, fussing at each other during games, ridiculous play calling, way to many delay of game calls, only a couple of coaches seem to be in this situation. I could be totaly wrong just a lot of bad body language on the sidelines.

I don't guess I have it all figured out, but I have seen some disturbing things on the sidelines and by the way, I've heard others say the same things and agree with me. I would love to help them coach, just don't have the time. I guarantee I would be in some ears. Also, you ask me how I made my assesment I told you, its my opinion you don't have to agree, but a lot of people do!

You make some valid points. Although, I don't agree with all of them, I do with some. I am confident the ship will get righted.
