No, but I think if a kid is being sent to a parochial school, he should either attend the one closest to him or in his parish, or be willing to sit out a year. For example if a kid lives in Erlanger, he should be attending St. Henry, not CCH or NewCath. Same goes for the public schools in Jefferson County.

Technically isn't St.Henry in Boone County now? I don't think any governing body should be able to tell me where to send my kid. What If I live in Edgewood and I'm a Holy Cross graduate and thats where I want my kid to go?

I have to disagree with you on this. I think making a kid who has attended a school previously sit out could hurt the kid dramatically in athletics when compared to his peers that don't have to sit out.

 

Behind? Maybe. Is it fatal to one's future high school athletic career? No.

Isn't what OB is saying is that proposal 1 is setting geographical boundaries for all schools including private. They are trying to make Private schools have districts and if you live outside that district your kid has to sit out a year. If read it wrong I"m sorry .

The thing that cracks me up about this whole issue. People backing these propositions can't grasp the fact that people actually rather send their child to a Catholic school rather than a Public for many more reasons there sports.

 

A majority of people who attend Catholic schools are 2nd,3rd, and 4th generation students of that school, just like the rural schools across ky.

But I think sports should play a role in where I send my child, I think its a major part of a young person growing. I should put them in a situation that can best help them succeed academicaly and athleticaly.

 

But my first choice as a parent will be Covington Holy Cross for reasons I think are apparent. But if I lived outside the 20 mile radius I would have to rethink it because making your kid sit out a year is almost like punishment.
