The pot calling the kettle black (the true story of Male, Manual, and Scott County)!

Manual has discipline because they don't have to take undisciplined kids. If a kid applies for Manual that doesn't know how to act they won't accept them. They can also kick a kid out at anytime when a kids discipline starts to go bad. Other public schools can't do that to a kid that lives in their resides area. No matter how bad they were in middle school they have to accept them and no matter how bad they are in high school, they can't kick them out.
No lots of Freshmen don't know how to act and they don't last long, Manual has ISAP and detention like everywhere else, but if you prove that you don't want to behave and be a Crimson, then you can go to Buechel or Liberty. That is alot to lose!! And generally students just chose to go back to their home schools instead.

Doesn't matter. Thats not going to change anything. Give it a few years. They will go after us because of open enrollment which creates recruiting.
Their is difference in recruiting and an introduction to the different Magnet programs. Besides, how can the KHSAA really afford to lose Louisville??? Short answer, they can't and won't, heck that is the main reason prop20 will not pass. $$$$$

exactly, back to their home schools because you don't have to deal with them. We do. They should make a rule in Jefferson County that if schools accept a kid out of resides that they have to keep them for four years and can't kick them out to their home school.

if your a coach and your going to football games on Saturday to talk about your schools magnet program, that is recruiting. RECRUITING HAPPENS, QUIT DENYING IT PEOPLE.

They don't kick them out to there home schools, they chose to return to there home schools verses going to Liberty and Buechel (which by the way Moore also dumps their problem kids too, that is why those schools exist) Besides, you should be happy they chose to return to their home schools, besides the discipline issues the 10-15 kids a year that decide to leave Manual for their home school, they also bring those test scores with them.

No that is NOT recruiting, read the rules the KHSAA puts out.

no they don't. Students only go to buechel for extreme issues such as repeated fighting or drugs, hitting a teacher. You can't just send any kid to buechel. Why would we want a kid back from Manual who doesn't act right?

well some of them mention a tad bit of sports when they are talking about their Magnet ;)

That is the only thing that Manual does too! We don't send kids to Buechel for not saying yes sir. And the kids that go back to there home schools made a choice to go back there. You should be happy they are kids with high test scores you have been wanting.

Oh and I guess they don't mention Moore football to the kids that play youth league there! Whatever.

It is not recruiting for Trinity to talk to a public school kid about their school or program in general. Nor is it recruiting for Eastern or Moore or Manual to talk about there school or program. What you can't do is say that could be a promise of playing time or reward like"Boy we would really be great if you where in our backfield. You could start for us right now! " Or offer them anything.

I agree, I coached CSAA sports for many years and I was always amazed at how many Manual coaches attended these games, especially football. Many times they outnumbered the Catholic school coaches in attendance.

I was always amazed at the number of Trinity and St. X coaches at public school games too! That is really the pot calling the Kettle black. That is just too funny, it is not against the rules and your coaches have been doing it for years. My brothers went to public schools and one played in the Toy Bowl in the CSAA championship. We never went to a Catholic School, or even went to that parish for that matter.
Well, not so fast there. Studies of scattered site low income housing have shown two things. First there is no change in the income level of the adults placed in more upscale neighborhoods. Second, the children placed in the more upscale neighborhoods (and in school with more middle class kids) do show a marked increase in performance when compared to the kids that remained in the poorer schools. If the kids are not going to learn at home that hard work in school can lead to a better life, maybe they can learn it from good examples at school.

I understand your comments, however let's not confuse income level with parental involvement and attitude (which is the leap that you make in your last sentence). Note that in my post, I said that putting high achieving students from supportive homes in schools with kids whose parents don't care will not improve the educational outcomes for the kids with indifferent parents. I stand by that belief. I never said anything about income level. There is no entrance requirement to Male or Manual based on income level, and there is a distribution of low to high income levels in each school. JCPS offers a range of education programs through open enrollment, many at schools with overall very good academic performance (and I'm not just referring to Male and Manual--there are many other schools offering Advanced Program, Traditional Program, Career-prep courses). For that reason, I question whether the parents of kids in underperforming schools--people who apparently accept this by not seeking better opportunities elsewhere--are really that interested in their child's education.

Exactly Old Corps. Their use to be quite a few Manual coaches at Highview games.

Yet most their best players went to Male, St.X and Trinity.... :sssh:

And I guess you where just there with your Moore gear to support your son right? :sssh:

See how things that are perfectly innocent can be twisted around.
