As many other's have mentioned, would UC have allowed him to stay and coach? Maybe they told him he would not be allowed to do so.

He didn't want to lose to Florida.

 

Not a big UC fan, but I hope more than anything that the UC players come out mad and just give Florida everything they have. Show Kelly they can beat the best without him.

Firing and leaving are two different things. I'm over it. I'm not even a UC fan. But if I where a parent of a player I would not feel any different than I do. If you put yourself in the position of a player or the parent of a college football player you may feel different.

This young man is involved in a multi million dollar business. A three to four hundred percent raise will cause a man to switch jobs. His job was to win the Pitt game, and coming clean about leaving would likely not have gotten that job accomplished. He won the Big East and left for a better position.

People that are using this as an argument don't understand that it's simply a business. He fulfilled his side of the contract by buying it out.

You never lie to anyone. Players, children, parents, friends.

 

So I take it that you have never lied in your life? I take it that you never will lie to your children, or keep the truth from them in some cases for their own good? His lying to them before the Pittsburgh game was for their own good. They probably are not playing in the Sugar bowl right now, if he told them the truth. When looking back at this ten years from now, which one do you think they would have been more upset about. Their coach leaving, or them blowing their chance to go to the Sugar Bowl or could have been the Title game just because they were distracted because he told them the truth? Yeah right now they are upset about it, just like anyone would be. However ten years from now they won't be as upset about it, and will be happy that they was able to experience the chance of playing in the Sugar Bowl, and possibly an undefeated season. Which none of that probably would have happened, if he told them the truth. Yeah lying in general is bad, but in some cases it is for their own good. Like it or not, sometimes lying is the best thing to do for someone. At that time before the Pitt game, it was IMO good for him to lie. Now I do admit he should have came more clean about it though a day or two after that Pitt game.
