Letcher County Central 96 Jenkins 10

Why?

Is this score correct?!

There's no reason for any team to be beat this bad.

Didn't Jenkins lose the other night by a really bad score?

Yes. They lost to Knott County Central 117-25.

They're in the same region as my school, but we haven't played them in years. One of the reasons is it's 100 miles from Booneville to Jenkins. We're 20 miles closer to Lexington than we are Jenkins.

They have had some good teams in the past. I don't know what's happened to their program.

17 players scored in this game and I believe I heard that the LCC coach took a technical foul to pull some of the freshman players out of the stands and put them on the scorebook.

If true, I guess everything was done possible to try to keep it respectable but Jenkins is just that bad this year.

What's the enrollment at Jenkins? Don't they also have a football program?

I hate to hear scores like this.

This goes beyond athletics at Jenkins Independent. Jenkins as an entire school is really down anymore. The state actually had to take them over in academics. They hired 7 new teachers at the beginning of the year and 2 of them quit within the first week.

I do feel sorry for the score though. But teams play to win and shouldnt stop because of the inabilities of other teams.

The KHSAA has them at 190 in the top 4 grades.

They have football but almost dropped it a few years ago. The locals raised a lot of ruckus over that possibility, and the administrators decided to keep it.

If I'm not mistaken Jenkins is the smallest enrollment with football in the state.

Not sure about the last statement; I believe Fulton City may have fewer. But they are very tiny.

It seemed like they were making some football improvements over the last couple years, but they took a big step back this year.

You're right. I looked it up. Fulton City has 136 students.
