If there were just four...

Well......I guess all of this begs the question. What classes would the teams be aligned in? I looked for the thread from last year, but couldn't find it.

I know that there are plenty of high schools in Kentucky.....so I'm not expecting someone to realign all of them.

It's hard to tell where a lot of schools would be.

Example ... Danville and Bardstown. In the four-class system, both were really skirting the line between A and 2A. If the KHSAA had stuck with four classes, we're not sure in which class they would be now. That's probably true for other schools up the enrollment ladder.

Owensboro and Warren Central were going back and forth between 3A and 4A in the late 90s and 2000s.

In which case they'd exit to Fort Campbell.
Maybe.

Given the problems that the Falcons had with one-dimensional Murray, I suspect Lone Oak could have found a way to pull it out.

I see. I think that Fort Campbell is also pretty close now, to the top end of 2A.

Oh well, just wondering.

Maybe.

Lone Oak had a comfortable lead on Boyle County and they couldn't pull that one out.

There's really no telling who would beat whom until they're actually on the field.

I'm not saying that Lone Oak would have beaten Fort Campbell, only that the Murray result would indicate that Lone Oak would have had a decent shot.

What a GREAT quote !!!

If there were only 4 divisions then at least 1/3 of the current playoff teams would be reclassified into a different division. This means that almost all matchups in all rounds would be compeltely different. It is quite possible that none of the champions would have played for any division title.

I think at least 2 of the 4 champions would be the same.

Let's be honest: there's no way Highlands and St. X weren't going to win whatever group they were in. Considering that Highlands is playing up in the first place, they wouldn't be in with X, and were long a 3A team in the old system. I'd almost put Fort Campbell into that same class. I just don't know who around them in enrollment could have beaten them. Is there any current 3A team that you think could have beaten them? I mean, Paducah won that class for God's sake! If Fort Campbell fell into 1A (which I don't believe they would) it could've been slightly more dicey, but still, Fort Campbell was IMO top 5 regardless of class. I don't think they lose any class they're in.

The only way Lexington Christian doesn't win is if Fort Campbell fell into their group.

Fort Campbell would have likely been 2A as they were before the change, the enrollment there typically does not change much due to the requirements to attend school on post. When all of the new housing on post is done and opened up, then it will likely increase some, but until then, it will reamin failry constant.
