To end this whole thing, all I've said from the beginning is that Lowe has strong interest from multiple teams. That is a fact. Whether those teams go deep into discussions with the Braves about trading for him is another thing. I still stand by the fact that Zito wasn't worth half the contract he received coming off his last season with Oakland. He played in an average division and had few quality wins against upper tier opponents. He was a good pitcher but that is what happens when a position market is thin, players are overpaid.

So it's not that there isn't "strong interest" in Lowe, because there is, it's just that teams are not willing to take on or give up what the Braves are asking. It's the same situation that Halladay is a part of. Teams want him, just not the price it takes to get him. So before you go celebrating on something you are in the dark about you may want to actually do some research on the entire subject. Has anyone made an offer for Lowe? The fact that it's being reported that the Braves are willing to eat part of Lowe's contract is a pretty good sign that any interest in him is tepid at best. December 10, 200916 yr Author I wonder what the Rays would offer. The deal is all but finalized yet there is no word as to who the Rays would be giving up. Now this is just my guess and I have no real information right now BUT I do know that the Rays do not have a lot of financial flexibility and have they constantly stated they don't want to take on a big contract. So it doesn't make sense that they add Soriano without giving up another big contract. They only have 3 big contracts and those are; Carlos Pena Carl Crawford Pat Burrell If it's Soriano straight up then I believe it could be for Burrell but I'm sure some other factors would have to be straightened out. There has been some stuff about the Braves trying to trade for Crawford or Pena since it's believed the Rays won't be able to keep them after a while. Soriano could be involved as well as others but as of right now I'm just guessing.

Looks like the Braves are freeing up money in case they eat salary from trading Lowe. This still leaves the Braves in need of at least 1 corner outfielder and a 1st baseman. December 10, 200916 yr I'm really interested in what is going to happen with Holliday and Bay. As a Cards fan I am confident in our team with out Holliday because we have the best staff in the league. We need a bat for the playoffs though. I am still waiting for the Cubs, Angels, Red Sox, and a wild card to make a big splash like they do every year.
