-UC's defense was terrible in the 1st half. NO WAY AROUND THAT.

-UC made great half time adjustments, which show great coaching.

-But, when the game was on the line, UC's defense could not get it done.

 

So for one half and the last and most important possession of the game, UC's defense was pretty bad, no matter how you decide to slice it. Was BK giving high-fives at half-time? Was he jumping for joy when Pitt scored that TD? Ask him, I guarantee as a coach he doesn't feel that it was a great defensive effort. They made a great run, but a quality defensive team does not have a first half like that, no matter how bad you want to forget about it.

 

Like I said, I see where you're coming from. But, to act like the defense yesterday was anything short of average is a stretch IMO. I'm not hatin' on UC, I'm just calling it like I saw it. But, truth be told, I'm a defensive guy at heart and giving up 44 points is never going to fly in my book, no matter who is playing....yes, even the U.

By the way Cats, you talk about how its not right to reward teams when other is not even playing. Well what is right about rewarding teams like Texas, Bama, etc. the top spots in the bowls while no one has played a game? I mean Texas was no better than any team in the country before the season started, because no game has been played. So why was they rewarded the two spot? Thats not fair for teams like UC, TCU, etc. I mean say UC was rewarded the two spot before the season started, they would be the ones going to the Title game right now. The main reason why Texas is going to the title game, is because they were rewarded a higher ranking before the season than UC without even have to play a game. Now if you want to talk about not fair, that is not fair at all.

Find where I said it was bad for the entire game yesterday. It was bad for the majority of the day, and there is once again no way around that. I will be waiting for an explanation of that. If they were a great or good defense there is no way they would have given up that many first half point.

Whats not true about saying that 40 points is bad defense? UC has father to go than I thought if they think that allowing a team to score that many points constitutes championship football.

They played a bad half against a team with a lot of firepower on offense. Baldwin and Lewis are going to make a LOT of money on Sunday in the future. They were also hurt by terrible field position after a blocked punt and muffed punt that gave Pitt the ball in great field position that resulted in 2 scores.

 

UC replaced 10 starters and switches to a 3-4, so things have been up and down with the D all year, but they played a schedule tough enough to put them at #2 in the computers after finishing 12-0, and while you don't think they should have jumped TCU, the system in place said otherwise...

I can't wait to see which coach voted them #1. I love that it becomes known.

This defense has been up and down and that is no doubt a reflection of what they lost in graduation. It's understandable and is a good excuse, but it still doesn't make up for the fact that the defense is not as good as other top teams.

They are no more deserving than any other team. They won every game on their schedule, just like a few of these other teams. Now here comes well they did that in the SEC. Which is true, and that is great. I honestly not saying that they aren't one of the two best teams in the country, because I think they are. However I think is the key two words there. Does anybody at all know for sure that they are better than UC or TCU, or even Boise? No NOBODY KNOWS FORESURE ON THAT, we all just believe that all. Which what is that exactly, it is just opinion, it is not fact. There is no way to say for sure that they are better since they haven't played, and well those teams haven't lost either. They have wins over UF, VT, and LSU along with (Ole Miss, Tennessee, South Carolina, Arkansas and Auburn). I don't see the other teams combining to have a resume like that. In this system that has to be good enough IMO. Make a case for or against another team and it can be done, I don't see any argument that can be made to take Saban and Co. out of the title game.

I've been reading and CCC said what I was ready to write as I was getting to the end of the thread. Va. Tech was a top 5 team when we played. LSU was near the top 5. Gators were what?

 

Bama should be playin TCU, Horns don't deserve to play in the BCSCG.

 

Boise State plays either the Horns or Bearcats. Cincy had several close games, but they also won them.

 

The winner Bama/TCU plays Horns/Boise State or Cincy winnner for the plus One Real Champion.

As I said before they are no more deserving than any other undefeated team. All a team can do is play the teams on their schedule. There is no way to say for sure that Bama or Texas are better than UC or TCU. I admit they probably are, but once again that is just opinion that is not based on fact. Its a very sad and poor system they use in crowning a Champion by basing it on opinion, with out really know who is better. UC, TCU, and Boise all deserve a shot to play for a title just like those two teams do. The system in place now is a joke and will be a joke until there is a playoff system in place.
