Personally I would love for the KSHAA to change the format around and just draw out of the hat to see what district plays who and where. Yes I know that it would be tough because of the distance of driving on Fridays nights, so play on Saturdays afternoons, but is it fair to always be playing the same regions vs the same regions each year!

 

I think it would fun to see how the other regions would match up against each other!

 

There you go. Maybe we can get into different brackets with CovCath and NKY would win almost all the time. Kind of like Louisville in 6A.

The message is that based on watching both teams live and on tape, I think JC is better than JH. JC got one shot to beat Highlands just like JH did. I thought JC was better. Sorry if that offends you or JH fans. But it's the way I see it. I've got zero reason to be biased against JH or any team from the west by the way.

 

I wasn't speaking to Johnson Central, I'm speaking to the statement that if a team from the west played closer than any team from the east. So 4 teams get a crack at your situation in the playoffs, one from the west.

 

It does not offend me, but it is an extremely narrow definition of what would define the second best team. You ignore any of the other criteria, such as how each team played the rest of the year. You've determined that the BGP rankings are off based on a game that took place three weeks after they were released, and based pretty much solely on that result plus John Hardin's result against Highlands.

Frankly, if you strictly look at the final results - where the teams were eliminated - and acknowledge that just because a team on one side of the bracket went to the third round doesn't mean necessarily that they are better than a team that lost in the second round in another bracket - the final poll doesn't look too bad at all.

 

Obviously, Dixie deserved to be ranked higher than Ashland - but the point could also be made that neither deserved to be in the top 10 and perhaps Pulaski should have been above both. Debatable, but defensible, too.

 

I personally suspect JC - which I was very high on - should have been a little higher in the poll, however, JC really didn't have to prove itself too much in the playoffs, so I'm not sure they gained enough points to justify a big move up.

 

Anderson probably should have been moved down a bit; the Bearcats struggled with some key injuries in the final couple of weeks, and got upset by a Doss team that John Hardin absolutely owned. (-9 yards rushing by the Dragons) the following week. Anderson - led by 5A player of the year Jacob Russell - undoubtedly (IMHO) deserved their top 10 rating for the first 7 weeks of the season, but they weren't on the top of their game those final weeks.

 

After watching the Oldham - John Hardin game, I would frankly agree that Oldham could arguably be moved up to 5, ahead of Oboro. But those two appear to be pretty even...

 

All in all, not a bad final ranking at all. This is really hard to do, IMO...I did note that the BGP poll had more top 10 teams that made the final 8 than any other poll I compared it to...
