Lets see JC beats CovCath and CovCath is ranked 8th and JC 10th

Dixie beats Ashland but Dixie isn't ranked but Ashland is ranked higher than JC who beat them in the regular season.

 

Also it seems that if you lost to JH or BG you are better than if you lost to HHS?

Well anyway, it looks like the biggest miss was Pulaski Co.

It seems that Johnson Central was way, way "under-valued" at 10th. In all likelihood they were no worse that 4th and quite possibly 2nd in 5A.

 

Also, Dixie turned some heads early in the playoffs, beating Ashland pretty handily at Ashland.

Probably because the first post/thread title wasn't very clear what you wanted.

 

Now that I've started off being critical, I'll continue on in that vein.

 

With the Birds having only competed with JH from the west, I'm in somewhat dangerous water trying to assess how strong those other western teams were. With the assumption that JH was the best team in the west due to them making it to the state game, I'd go with Johnson Central being ranked 2nd in 5A, which means the 10th week BGP ranking was WAY off the mark. I'd put JH 3rd. Have to put BG 4th based on the relatively narrow margin of victory by JH over BG. Based on the game tape of JH vs Oldham, I'd put Oldham at 5th. After that, I don't have a clue who the next 5 would be. Obviously Dixie would have to be higher than Ashland. Again with the caveat that I didn't see Christian County, Oboro or Anderson live or in tape, I have no clue if they should be ranked higher or lower than Dixie, CovCath or Pulaski (who wasn't on the week 10 list at all but made it to the semi finals).

 

So, I guess in summary the folks making the BGP week 10 5A ranking didn't have it real close but weren't too bad. They at least got the top ranked team right. :laugh: I'll give them a C+.

I agree, they were ranked in the top 10 for some of the season but fell out toward the end. They played well all season and probably should have stated in. They had a great season.

Watching Highlands play all year I'm not sure about all the teams listed in 5a, but I thought Johnson Central was the 2nd best team Highlands played next to Cincy St. X. They were well coached, hard hitting and disciplined. I would put them at #2 in 5a now that the season is over.
