That link actually shows the top 10 fighters of the decade....

That list looks like,

10.) Matt Hughes

9.) Tito Ortiz

8.) Wanderlei Silva

7.) GSP

6.) Big Nog

5.) Anderson Silva

4.) Mauricio Shogun Rua

3.) Fedor

2.) Randy

1.) Chuck

This can be looked at in a lot of different ways. I agree with it somewhat but disagree somewhat. I'll have to digest it a while before being able to make a decision.

If Chuck is considered #1 then Matt Hughes has to be higher than 10.

I do believe Randy is in a good spot and could even be considered #1. His record is only 17-10 or something like that, but almost every fight he has been in, in the UFC, has been a title fight. I think 3-4 haven't been championship bouts. That's impressive.

Hughes and Tito aren't top ten fighters, Silva is too low at 5...should probably be 2 or 3, Chuck is a little high at 1 and Fedor should be 1.

To suggest that Tito Ortiz is a top ten fighter of any decade is an outlandish joke. Rampage has a much better resume in the last couple years than Ortiz's career. What a joke.

I would say that Hughes is a top ten fighter, Ortiz is not.

I agree with woodsrider in that Chuck is a bit high (I think his name is getting confused with his abilities as a top fighter of the decade) and Fedor should really be number one.

Don't think that Randy should be number two either. He never really dominated a division, sure he's won the belt five times.....but he was never a dominating fighter in any weight class.

Silva's recent accomplishments alone should put him higher than he is, he's gotten a ton of exposure since being in the UFC.

Later.

Similar to my view...

I think Fedor at #1 is a no-brainer. I'd drop Couture and Liddell, bump Anderson Silva up and drop Tito from the list and add Dan Henderson. I also think Cro Cop belongs in there somewhere, but I'm not sure at whose expense. Perhaps a tie at #10. :D I also think Shogun is too high. For all his impressiveness, he's never held a title to my knowledge.

My only disagreement is that I think Hughes should be higher, not off the list.

It's hard to rank the decade because right now the dominance of Silva, Fedor, GSP and BJ is fresh in my mind...it's harder to go back and remember some of these other guys at their best. Hughes, for instance, was great, but all I can picture now is him getting owned by GSP. Liddell, great, but I see him flat on the canvas as stiff as a corpse with (insert name here) standing over him.

Fedor should be 1. Anderson Silva should be 2. Those two are clear in my mind. And, I'd probably put GSP at 3.

I would take top 4 like this...

1. Chuck Liddell

2. Fedor Emelianenko

3. Randy Couture

4. Anderson Silva

Seems like they completely left out lighter weights.

Guys like BJ Penn, Miguel Torres, Mike Brown, Urijah Faber, etc; deserve serious consideration IMO.

Tito did hold a UFC belt longer than anyone, I believe.

He was great in his time. He is not good anymore, I agree.

Of this decade? Maybe BJ Penn...Torres, Brown and Faber haven't done enough IMO to be considered for a top 10 overall, of this decade.

GSP has his faults as well. Lost to BJ Penn and Matt Serra.

Just saying if you are going to bring up Hughes defeats to GSP, and Liddells short comings as of late, you must mention GSP's.

Silva and Fedor have none of these to mention, so I couldn't argue with them being #1 and #2. I'd put Anderson at #1 over Fedor though. He's looked absolutely dominant in every fight he's been in. I've never seen him hurt, once.

Couture has to be in the top 5. Like I said before, all he does is fight for championships.

Yeah there is two parts to this decade and most people have forgotten how the first part went. Tito and Matt Hughes were both unstoppable for very long periods of time. They owned their respective weight classes. However, as MMA kept evolving, they found that the dominating skills they once had wasn't keeping up with some of the newer fighters. Case in point, the Light Heavy's such as Chuck came over to UFC and had much better striking than Tito. Now not taking anything away from the ground and pound champ, but Tito on his feet against a good striker was his own worst enemy. In Hughes case you have a guy like St. Pierre come along who could match wrestling ability with Hughes, but also add a couple extra elements that Hughes didn't have.

So to sum it up, guys like Tito and Matt Hughes are what I like to call middle UFC guys. Their styles dominated the old schoolers such as the Shamrocks and Gracies of the UFC among others, however, couldn't keep up with some of the guys you see today. MMA and the UFC in particular has evolved from a sport of one discipline fighting another, to multiple disciplines fighting multiple disciplines, to now you have guys who are great at one or two disciplines, and not too bad at some others. Nowadays you have to have to have a little bit of everything to mix it up at an elite level.

That is what makes this list so hard because it is top 10 of the decade. In their prime, Hughes and Tito are tough to keep off the list, but comparing them by the last couple of years one could see why they are not worthy. Also Fedor hasn't really been fighting top notch guys in the past few years, so that could keep him out of the top spot in my eyes.

Like HB said, Randy is a legend and has fought and won in a lot title bouts, and he had been good ALL decade.

Chuck helped catapult the sport into what it is today, and still to the casual fan is probably the most recognizable name.

So like earlier I am still torn, although I do know for sure I would def put the Spider further up the list but only by a spot or two.

Once again who has Silva beat to be mentioned..........

Has he beat anyone on that list?

The best fighter he has beat is Rich Franklin.....who is so good he is regulated to catch-weight bouts.............

Randy has beat who?...........and I'm a Randy fan.

Where is Barnett?

Cro Cop belongs on the list.

Dan Henderson is miles ahead of Ace IMO.

A few guys from this same list.

Cro Cop has been humiliated ever since coming to the UFC. You take his head kick from him and what do you have to be scared of?
