Must be nice to play on the weak side of the state. HHS starters will be lucky to play more than a half in SEMISTATE game! HHS has a great program, but are fortunate not to have to face good atheltic teams on the way to the finals.

This is something that I really wish everyone would understand....when you post in a public forum, you not only represent yourself but the school, the program, the fans, parents, coaches and the players....I don't care who wins....In my book, there is not one young man who plays high school football a loser. These young men are doing it only for the love of the game and to build memories.

The ONLY Purple Haze my wife has in her eyes is me. Somebody else backed John Hardin, and that was great (and he's welcome to meet us at the game too). You didn't have a problem with that. devils58 knows me to be a very congenial host who does not have time for such "school spirit". People who are members here, such as St X Supporter Supreme Oxnard, and Trinity fanatics PepRock and Rockmom know us to be very classy fans who do not want an "us against the world" reputation.

 

By the way, we already know that we must play John Hardin Friday, and our guys and staff prepared accordingly. With the gut-twisting schedule in the postseason we have to play, you can't overlook anybody. Seems to me that you still have two more games to play before you can do that. So who's overlooking whom? I can guarantee you that Coach Mueller and his guys won't be.

 

With that said, here is my opinion:

1. BGHS (Sic 'em, Purple!!!)

2. Highlands

3. John Hardin

4. Pulaski Co

 

By the way, please do us the tremendous favor of providing much more bulletin board fodder for our Fieldhouse. And, lastly, one can't quantify heart, but one should know when it's there. The Purples have plenty of it to spare!

 

To jbwill: I do not include you among the poor sports. I've always known you to be an excellent Highlands backer who doesn't have to talk down other programs to make yourself feel superior. Keep doing what you do! I consider you to be a true goodwill ambassador of Highlands Football, and that's what I respect! :thumb:

I'm not getting in the middle of the RB/PH thing. But this "weak side of the state" thing is a joke. Last year, Bryan Station or Johnson Central would've won state had it not been for the Bluebirds. This year, JC would've been there again if not for Highlands.

 

Highlands is just head and shoulders above ALL of 5A this year. That's why the PERCEPTION is that their side of the bracket is easy. In my book, Perception = Assumption. And I'm sure you know the old saying about Assuming.

I agree that the east is not as easy as some are assuming. However, Pulaski Co is the same team that lost to a 3-8 Barren Co team(from region 1 mind you) late in the regular season and has won 3 straight playoff games in the east.

 

As for 2008 I'll just disagree that a 6-5 Bryan Station team or Johnson Central would have won the state last year against Christian if not for Highlands.

Not sure how a single van of people leads you to that conclusion.

 

I've attended many HS football games home and away. I've seen many ugly acts by fans towards other fans and players. I take it for what it's worth. There are idiots in every crowd. I would never pidgeon hole a group of people based on the acts of a few within that group. So with that said can we get back to the thread?

I don't know much about Pulaski County, but I do know that John Hardin is undefeated and Bowling Green has a championship history (beating Highlands, no less) and held Trinity to nine points this year. If Highlands gets by PC tonight, they will have their hands full against either JH or BG next week.

 

I think it's true that for this year, the western bracket has more solid teams than the eastern bracket does in 5A. Take a look at BGP's final 5A rankings... I think this ranking list bears it out.

If you lump the school and all the fans/players in with every person that posts on here you are doing yourself and those people a disservice. Public forums are just that, a place in the public where individuals can voice their own opinion. I think the bigger problem is many people on here take the posts so seriously and need to relax a little bit. What fun is a site like this if we cant get various opinions?

 

Highlands is a machine and until they are beat by an in-state opponent many of the Bird Fans will feel that they are the best and cannot be beat. This should not take anything away from the other teams who bust their butts as well and deserve positive recognition.

We need to stop any further comments about the teams people choose to support or about any group of fans. Everyone please review rule 2 before posting in this thread. Several of you are on very thin ice!
