God authored the 10 Commandments. Do you believe just because you break man's law (busted for marijuana and taken to jail, public intoxication, etc.) and not one of God's 10 Commandments, you should be able to get in heaven?

Keeping the law (man's or the 10 Commandments) has absolutely nothing to do with entrance into heaven. The law was the old covenant; Christ is the new covenant. There is nothing you can do, no act you can take, no matter how many old ladies you walk across the street, that will EARN your way to salvation. Faith in Christ is what is required, thankfully all that is required.

That's good b/c if God issued 10 commandments now I would hope they would be a little different. My issue w/ this is can you rape 100 children, but believe in Christ and earn your way to salvation?

Someone who truly believes in Christ wouldn't make those decisions...

What if they didn't find Christ until after those decisions were made?

Faith is not all that is required.

I've always have believed God is forgiving. If you have made a mistake in your life and you are truly sorry for that to God then he will forgive.

If you rape 100 kids, find Christ, and repent of it, absolutely.

Both the Christian/Non Christian will have a day of their Judgement. The Christian Sins were forgiven when the Christian accepted to follow Jesus.

The Non Christian will be judge before they are in toment..Hell... Luke 16

The 10 Commandments, nine of these are mentioned by Jesus so they hold true, Keeping the Sabbath is not followed by the New Testament Christians.

These 10 Laws were too hard for man to do and we sin, Jesus saves us Matthew 1:20..Salavation is found in only one name...Acts 4:12

The flaw in that logic is that as humans, we tend to "rank" sins, and thus determine that some people have done things so horrible that they don't deserve salvation. But by God's standards, we all fall woefully short and none of us deserve salvation. Thankfully, however, there is no sin, other than blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, that is deemed unforgiveable by God. Additionally, there is no sin small or trivial enough to be overlooked by God. Not everyone rapes 100 children, but we commit acts that are evil and wicked before God, and consequently separate us from Him. The only way to restore that relationship is through Jesus Christ...His sacrifice, His blood, are all that is acceptable to God.

So hypothetically you could do anything and everything you want no matter how bad it is as long as you restore your relationship w/ God through Christ before you die?

Yes. Thief on the cross. That is the magnificence of God's Gift. Jeffrey Dahmer might have had a true, repentant deathbed salvation, and he will be waiting there when I arrive.

Hypothetically, yes.

The mystery of God revealed through Christ Jesus...

Another thing I've found that people struggle with related to good works is the idea that if your good works outweigh your bad in the end, you'll go to heaven. I'm not assuming you believe this, but many do.

The flaw in that logic is the assumption that a perfect, pure, holy God can allow sin to be in His presence. Hypothetically, even if our good did outweigh our bad, we cannot stand before God with sin. Through His work of grace, through Jesus Christ, our sin can be covered in God's eyes...but only through Christ. The Bible says, to paraphrase, "salvation is found in no other name". He casts our sins "to the bottom of the ocean", or as far from us "as the east is to the west".

These truths aren't always easy for us to accept or grasp. As people, we want to do and earn things with our own merit. But, when it comes to salvation, the only way is the grace of God through the free gift of Christ.

I won't ramble any more...that's probably more than you wanted to hear.

I did a topic on "Rewards in Heaven" a few months back. Will Billy Graham get the same rewards as me? Will the Saved rapist get the same rewards as me?

No one knows what these rewards are, but are mentioned alot in the NT.
