How about Mike Leach?

Featured Replies

I saw a rumor on ESPN that said that U of L and Mike Leach had mutual interest in each other, IF Kragthorpe gets canned. That is one rumor I think could happen. Leach always acts like he wants to leave Texas Tech, so maybe this could happen? What do you guys think? Possible? Good fit? IMO, I think it would be a win-win for U of L and for Leach.

I remember hearing something in the past about him being unhappy or something like that but why would he want to leave there to come to UofL?

Maybe money and a conference that year in year out is weaker than the Big 12. Change of scenery? I think Leach would have a better shot at continuing to move up the coaching ladder if he coached in the East. Right or wrong most see him as a guy that only cares about the passing game, leaving the running game and defense on the back burner. It would be a lateral move at best though, IMO.

I think Leach would be a great hire for UofL.

IMO, Leach could make them a bowl team immediately.

As long as UofL fans don't care about defense. I believe Leach was quoted once as saying the best defense you can have is to score a TD.

^^Their defense has gotten better in the last few years though IMO. I think that DC they have isn't too bad. But, he is an offense-first guy no doubt.

Leach has been competitive in the Big 12, he would have UofL back on the map in year one, and dangerous in year two.

Please be true is all I can say.

I think that if he is offered the job, he will be there. Texas Tech is kind of a dead end job, and IMO, he has made them as good as they can be. U of L has alot of potential because they play in the Big East, potentially could get more exposure, and will probably pay more. It's going to take a big sum of money though. I believe that article said he would get around 3 million from TT this year, in contract and a bonus if he is still the coach on January 1st. Will U of L pony up?

Does Louisville have a quarterback that can run that style of offense? Can they get one?

Leach has had success with most of his QB's.

Yes, and they are guys hand-picked by Leach to run his system. Will he have that luxuary at Louisville in his first year?

I Leach didn't recruit Kingsbury and I don't think he recruited B.J. Simmons either. I think that Cumbie was his first QB that played for him that he recruited at TT.

We spent the bulk of our years in Conference USA not all that concerned about defense; it's just getting back to basics for us. :D

I heard about this rumor earlier today. It's at least a little more believable than most of the others. It's unfortunate that with two games left in the season, I just want it to end so we can sack the coach and get another, but I suppose that's what we've come to.
