Central 34 Western Hills 27

It is not possible to replace a senior class like this for Western Hills, but the cupboard is far from bare. On offense Hills returns 4 of its top 5 receivers (with Chris Pugh, Logan Curry, and Bobby Clay all starters), as well as 2 linemen that saw signaficant time. The loss of Dylan Curry, J Wright, and Cody Hecker in the backfield will be huge; as well as losing Justen Perry, Bubba Weber, and Will Riddle on the line. Backup FB Quentin Martin should recover from a broken ankle by the spring. On defense Hills returns both interior linemen (Ken Holbrook and Gabe Lohman), but must replace Perry and Hecker at DE. At LB 3 starters return (including leading tackler Arie Slone), as well as the entire defensive backfield. The biggest concern will be the replacement of Curry at QB, Wright at FB, and the offensive linemen. I assume Slone will step in at QB. He has decent size (6'2" and 205 lbs) and a good arm, but not the speed and experience of Curry. Martin will get the opportunity at FB, while younger linemen will have to step up. As has been proven the last two years, Coach Miller and his staff can coach and will have Hills competative by next season.

Its only a shock if you win! Central won bottom line. What did Hills do to keep it close?

S-K I think you and I have had a similar discussion like this previously this season so don't get on here and even try to act like Central walked all over Hills and try to deminish what these kids have accomplished this season. I mean after all they took the 2 time defending 3A State Champs down to the wire Friday night and Central was definately concerned. No one here is trying to down play Centrals win they are a very good football team the best Hills has faced all season long for them to do that is saying something about Western Hills Football, and we all know that an almost don't get you much in high school football.

Hills ran the ball right at them and completed several passes Friday night. I don't know what any of the official stats were but I would say that JWright ran for about 200+ yards and Curry probably passed for well over a 100 and rushed for several as well that is just those 2 there were others that carried the ball.. here on this side of town is Hills don't have 1 or 2 superstars they have an entire team of superstars and these last 3 games that is the way all of them have played. the talent and the desire was definately there, Hills finally was able to get a coaching staff to stick around for awhile and get these kids to believe in themselves and the program, so if you want to try and take away from what these kids have done this season take it to another thread because no one here wants to hear it.

I think folks who have seen Hills play were not shocked by the score, but Central found a way. Good luck to Hills in the future. This a discussion forum though, so opinions do get posted, I am sorry you have chose to take them personal. Not sure where the this side of town statement came from?? In a Central Hills thread???:ohbrother:

Very well said Pigskin, you know all year I've read these things and sometimes get a little mad but deep down don't really care what SK has to say cause he probably did'nt even play the game or played very little. The kids of Western Hills had a great year as a Team and they know that and that's all that matters. Those seniors worked their butts off in the off season and it all payed off. Great year guys and whatever you do don't let some nobody like Skilld-Kid try and take it away from you. GO HILLS!!!:ylsuper:

Congrats to Hills contrary to popular belief my hats are off to the kids there I remember the years when they were getting beat by 40-50 points very often, these kids fight hard and are a blue collar hardworking bunch. Coach Miller is a great coach and has done a good job. I just was stating earlier that when you get this close you got to finish. And for the record I was a stand out player both in youth league and Middle school! lol

Well Fish I have watched this team for several years and probably one of their biggest fans. I have watched this group of Seniors since they were in middle school and have always known they would do great things for WH football. At the same time I can be critical when I think it is called for, I mean you have seen some of my posts this season I'll call them the way I see them. Several times I have thought if some things had been done differently Wright could have rushed for about 1500+ yards and curry could have passed for about the same maybe more. That being said they have still done an excellent job and need to be very proud of themselves and what they have accomplished. I hate to see this group of Seniors go but look forward to a new era in WH football that they have created.. I'll be here next season to tell it like it is the way I see it. :D:D

Hey FishMaster have you looked at the stats that Central has posted for the game? According to them they only gave up 84 yards rushing and 137 passing!:lol:

I saw that as well Pigskin! I know Hills had a few sacks for negative rushing yards, but not that many. Just sitting in the stands I thought JWright had 200 rushing yards by himself - with a few more yards from Curry and Pugh. Also thought Curry had closer to 150 passing yards. Not sure how Central came up with the 84 rushing yards - maybe just a misprint? If JWright gained 193+ yards in this game that gave him a great season stat line: over 1000 yards rushing, 12 touchdowns, and over 100 total tackles. Also think Curry had more than 2000 total yards (passing and rushing).

I'm sure they have a stat guy not just someone sitting in the stands.

Final. Maybe the most balanced 3A class in a while.

That's for sure...Central would have to be the favorite to win it again, but at this point, I think you could possibly draw names from a hat.

I'm sure they have a stat guy not just someone sitting in the stands.

I'm not insinuating it is intentional by any means, I thought it was probably a typo. Wright had almost 80 yards on one drive shoot he carried the ball 9 out of 10 plays that series. Curry carried the ball some and gained several yards, Hecker, Pugh & Clay all carried the ball a few times. I know you have to subtract -yards from +yards. like I said thought it might be a typo or something.

These kids were something special.
