November 8, 200916 yr It seems that the CBO is only "trusted" when it coincides with one's beliefs? Feel free to dispute their claims. I'm all for the discussion. However, its better if you can at least cite contradicting evidence. I've never been one to trust them for anything, I don't have anything off hand. But every day I see people on both sides saying it will cost more or it won't. I'm just a realist and I can't see any way how providing insurance for millions of Americans will save the government money. Also with the subsidies for people who can't afford the government option they really won't be paying for their share.

You are on to something there as discussions have already taken place to give refundable tax credits to low income households to offset the cost of healthcare premiums. A refundable tax credit, like the EIC, allows one to actually get back money never paid. And, of course, the middle class and upper class citizens ultimately pay for these credits.

You will owe the king or the lord (the Healthcare czar) an annual ransom for their protection each year. In the middle ages the protection came from a king and his knights and the castle walls. Now you are expected to pay for protection (health insurance) to a similiar function. And if you dont - off to the dungeon (prison time for not paying the mandated insurance.) How wrong is the quoted statetment above. Those acts merely created taxes and expanded welfare functions. This act mandates payment by individiuals without regard to their earnings, it mandates minimum payments. It makes us all surfs. They will be forced to pay.....under the point of a gun if necessary. The health care they will receive will not be nearly as timely if the government deigns to give it to them at all or nearly as good as once the government decides that your health is worth the expense to them. Let me re-phrase and leave "welfare" out. Many of the uncovered today go to the emergency room for care. As you know that means that we are paying for their coverage. So now that we are going to require more and more of them (estimate says 96% overall) to be covered shouldn't we be saying that's a positive?

I believe I did address it. The government will get to deny certain treatments for rich and poor. The government will force rich and poor to wait longer particularly for specialty services. The overall quality of health care will decline for rich and poor. Things will change for rich and poor!

Private health insurances also deny a lot..... I am not sure how much that will change.
