I have seen this Bourbon county team play, and I have seen Boyle County play. There is no doubt that Boyle County is overall the most team, Bourbon has a few players that will give them fits. I dont see McShara breaking any long runs unless someone on Boyle is laying on top of #6 Bourbon County, that kid can fly. I also expect the Barnes kid do a little damage, and whoever is going up against Bourbon's big guard is in for a long night. That said, Boyle will probably win big!!

Very comparable schedules with a slight edge to Boyle in overall records of opponents.

 

*Bourbon has only defeated one winning team all year (Estill) and that was in the first game.

 

*Boyle has scored 444 points while only giving up 64.

 

*Bourbon has scored 259 points while giving up 212.

 

*Bourbon's most impressive win would be Estill.

 

*Boyle's most impressive win would be a tie between Lex Cath and Christian County.

 

All that said, it's hard to believe that Bourbon will give Boyle any fits in this one. While they have to play it on the field, the notion that the ghosts of '97 are still lingering 12 years later is somewhat off. Different teams and programs entirely at this juncture vs. then.

 

With Boyle's defense holding opponents to a TD or less 7 times (4 shutouts), it will be the defense that can carry the Rebels through the playoffs. Will it carry them all the way? We will see. :thumb:

On a side note about the defense, they have shut out the other teams Offense 6 times. Johnson Central and Lafayette's only scores was a returned kickoff. Danville, Pikeville, and Lexington Catholic only could mustard 1 TD on our D. 9 out of the 10 games where 7 or less. Can't win if you can't score.

#6 is just a freshman. He has a very bright future ahead of him. He is fast and a very tough nose kid. If this Bourbon team works in the off season they could be pretty good next year.

If I remember correctly dear sir, 1997 should let all Boyle County fans know why we play the first round games!:sssh:

Christian Co., Lexington Catholic & Lafayette are much better than their records indicate. Boyle Co.'s opponents combined record does not tell the story re: the strength of their schedule. While Danville & Rockcastle Co. don't have great records they are quality oponents. Boyle Co. has played a much tougher schedule than the Colonels.

Some will not agree but Bourbon is better than their record shows. Granted we played a weaker schedule per say this year than Boyle and I am not arguing that point. Do we schedule the cream of crop, crush confidence and desire out of a team that is young? Or do we start from square 1 and build from there?

 

Ultimately, we know we are underdogs in the rest of the games we play. Can't change that now.
