Middlesboro isn't that young really. They are loaded with juniors that have all had a couple of years of experience. This is simply a group of major under-achievers. Their effort and attitude have never really been there and I don't look for them to snap out of it. It will be a long year for the Jackets.

 

 

I agree, Middlesboro isn't young. Most everyone on their team has a year of starting experience. The exception are their wideouts, but they are predominately an option team.

 

This is a squad that plays below their talent level, which surprises me, because I have always believed Coach Roark to be an exceptional coach.

M'boro is young in some positions.. I know that they have two freshmen who are playing both ways and do not leave the game but for short times.

I would like to see the players become a "team". They are a group of good players but not acting always as a "TEAM". That is something that can not be taught.

Middlesboro got beat by 2 really good teams. The LC team that played Leslie was not the team that played Middlesboro. Whitley would be able to beat about anyone in the Mountains so I think 'boro will be just fine and they will not lose another game the rest of the season until Leslie and probably win that one and finsh 1st in their district. 8-2 for the jackets

Any chance the kids lost some confidence when Roark got rid of the Bell game? They maybe felt as though the coach had no confidence in them?

That was a little hard MHS03... I do not agree with you that members of the Jackets team quit... Mistakes were made, assignments missed, and one or two players showed their youth and temper... People want to see players who plays their hardest until the last play but they must play as a team!!.

I do not know for sure, but how many players are going both ways for this team?

Do you not think that Lynn Camp had players playing both ways all game?? Don't you think they have some players battling injuries from the week before since we weren't the only team in the state to play?? These are all just excuses for a very ugly start. To me, giving up includes making all those mistakes you mentioned. When your mind isn't totally focused on getting the job done, several mistakes will be made. Everyone keeps talking about youth on this team but they forget that every year Middlesboro has freshman starting at key roles. This is part of being a small school team. You know freshman have been asked to step up before this group came along. Mikey Idol started both ways as a freshman. Justin Stewart started defense as a freshman. Vince Powell started MLB as a freshman. Blake Allen started QB as a sophomore. And there are many many more. And the teams these guys played for never looked as bad or as careless as this years team does. I'm simply disappointed in the program right now.

 

I'm tired of fans putting on the blinders and listening to this whole youth bit or playing boths ways bit. I bet when you watch the Class A and Class AA state championship this year, you will find about 5 or 6 guys playing both ways for each team.

 

I find it hard to believe these guys will ever come together really. They have been playing with each other for quite some time now. A lot of the same skills players played baseball last year and they went an entire season without really gelling together. Maybe it is because of attitude, poor leadership, effort, whatever it may be, something (or someone) is not allowing this team to come together.

 

Like I said, it is going to be a long season for Middlesboro unfortunately.

Will Stewart could be a solid football player, but what I thought hurt him at Lynn Camp, is he didn't come to practice all the time. When you miss practice and play the linebacker position, it makes it hard to play. Lynn Camp linebackers and fullback played just fine this season.

If this is the same Will Stweart listed on the top 20 backs of the last 20 years thread I guess LC would have missed a player of this ability,I didn't know LC had a player by this name now at Corbin. I guess the road runs both ways.
