The top freshman and the top sophomore basketball players in the state of Kentucky are both on the University of Cincinnati campus this afternoon.

 

Lexington Catholic sophomore Jaylen Beckham and Shelby County freshman Darryl Hicks were both attending the Cincinnati scrimmage and then the football game against Louisville.

Remember, he is only a freshman and his upside is HUGE!! If he continues to develop, there is no chance he goes to UC. He will be much bigger than that. My guess is he is enjoying the attention that is coming his way.

I'll let the UC performance on the court now that the rebuilding process is complete speak for itself between now and when these two pick a school. I know for a fact Hicks is very interested in UC and Beckham enjoyed his visit as well. Obviously if UK makes a serious push for him it would be near impossible to pull him away from that, but UC is a program very much on the rise and is no longer held back by mid major conference affiliation when it comes to recruiting...

For the most part, everyone enjoys their visits. Who wouldn't? You come to campus, get treated like a king and have a good time. Don't get me wrong. I love when any KY boys are getting D1 attention. I just think that both of these exceptional players will do better than UC.

UC plays in the Big East that will get tons of publicity and national TV exposure if they are competing at the top of the Big East.

 

UC has a history that is unmatched by about 90-95% of the colleges in this country.

 

They are one of only a handful of schools to make it to the Championship game 3 straight years and/or winning two of them in a row.

 

UK, Duke, San Fran and UCLA, I think are the only four to have done this.

 

Playing at a major college in a major conference that will get a lot of TV exposure and is close to home.

 

Unless you are talking under the table deals, not sure what more someone else would have to offer.

Not to high jack the thread but I am sure their football team who is ranked 5th in the country is saying the samething. I think UC has alot to offer.

 

It has to start somewhere and if these 2 players even though they are young could help this program become nationally ranked then I would hope they would as me being a UC fan.

Let's be clear here - UC is a program that can offer everything that these two kids are looking for. Championships? check. Players in the NBA? check. Big time conference? check. Close to home? check. There is legacy at UC.

They ARE 9th and 10th graders...Dakotah Euton was going to Duke, Florida, UK and many others when he was a soph. Lots of things can happen between now and then...for better or worse.
