Yes muddy fields are almost like an extra defender. It makes it harder to pass block as well as run the ball. But in my past the funnest games we played were in about three inchs of mud. That's what football is all about "getting down and dirty in the trenchs." Over all Miles Simpson is one of the best RB if not the top RB in the state. It felt good to be blocking for him for his first Career Varsity TD against Scott his fresh. yr.

I believe his last four quarters were against Boone and Campbell County, two of the lack luster defenses in the NKY region. Miles is an awesome back, and I believe to be the best in the state, but even as fan of good running backs, I wouldn't boast about running back of his class racking up yards against those two defenses. We all already know he's top notch.

His balance is amazing. A players ability to keep their cleats under them and make cuts on any surface the way he does is pure instinct.

Honestly, my post was never intended to lessen Miles accomplishments. Perhaps it was worded awkwardly. Let me try to rephrase it. Would it be just as impressive if a 2A or 1A player did these things against teams in higher classes? My arguement would be yes, perhaps even moreso because they were playing above their class. However, MILES SIMPSON deserves every bit of credit he is getting but I think players in the lower classes are often not given the credit they deserve when they accomplish these things. JMHO I wish Miles the very best for continued success for the rest of the season.

Actually, I tape KYT's Friday Night flights every friday evening and during that time frame I don't even take calls. I love seeing the highlights from KY HS football, here in the Cincy market we don't get much on the big 3 networks. I love watching MacShara, Hayden, Buckler and all the other greats, much respect from up north. With that being said, the fact that he's 6'2", and a solid 210 pounds with speed, balance and vision, it's hard not to talk about his accomplishments no matter who he plays against.

Who in the lower classes are putting up numbers against 6A competition that you are talking about?

 

Simpson is a STUD! PERIOD!

Who remembers his father David Simpson? Heck of a player at Newport and Eastern Kentucky University. Miles has the genetics and skills. His father and I were great friends in college, if I recall his Dad had a day given to him from the Mayor of Newport for his athletic accomplishments.

I don't know his father but I see him every Friday night and he looks like a stud now. The one thing that I found out about Miles on Friday night is he has a ton of "individual" stickers for his helmet but only puts one on his helmet for a team win. If that doesn't tell the tale, I don't know what does.

I agree completely, great numbers against bad teams. He is a great player and a great kid, hopefully, he can manage these numbers deep in the playoffs, that would truly be an impressive feat.

Simpson went over 200 yards against every district opponent and that includes Ryle and Conner. So it isn't like he can't do it against the top teams also.

So just curious, the almost 300 yards he put up against Boone in the 1st half says nothing about Boone's defense either huh? Hasn't he put up over 200 yards against every NKY 6A school this year?

 

CC has struggled mightly this year. They have had a lot of injuries and are very young. 14 seniors and 2 of them were lost after the 3rd game of the year, one was lost last year with a career ending knee injury and the other player was lost midway through the season for the year. This team will rebound next year. They have a very good sophomore and junior class.
