This sounds like it was a good showing by Fleming County.

 

Also, with Pike County Central beating a suspension-depleted Sheldon Clark team tonight, Fleming County gets to play at Pike County Central in round 1 of the playoffs. That's a winnable game for them. The winner of that one will play Mason County in round 2. So it's a win-win situation for both Mason and Fleming with tonight's result. Russell, Sheldon Clark, and Belfry are in the other bracket.

Game was 0-0 at the half, with the Panthers dominating time of possession. Mason County scored 4 or 5 minutes into the second half; the second TD with about 6 minutes to play and had the ball deep in Panther terrirory at the end. I'd say a 2-touchdown win was about right. Stopping Fleming on all four 4th-down tries was key.

Mason County took a page from the same book and pounded away on the ground with Harris in the second half. Royals converted a huge 4th and 18 where Gilbert cut back and turned a minimal gain into a 23 yard TD. Really a great game to watch all around.
