Mason Co now 17-16 all time vs Fleming Co.

Back to back District Champs. Congrats to Coach B and the Royals! :dancingpa

It wasn't always pretty but a wins a win. The rain stopped shortly before the game started and the field was pretty messy. Once again Jordan Gilbert made a play that amazed me. His touchdown catch and run was fantastic. In the second half, Mason showed they have power as well as finesse.

GIve credit to Fleming County; they executed their game plan to perfection in the first half. Kept the Royals off the field; held the ball for 17 minutes to 7 minutes. Some stout defense at key times kept the Panthers out of the end zone. The 0-0 halftime score had a few of us trying to figure out three-way district tie playoff scenarios.

Back to basics for the Royals in the second half; marched down the field for a score (Harris, who was held to 100 yards on the night). Defense got stingy; and the 4th quarter TD pass to Gilbert put the game out of reach.

District champs again, 9-0 start with the final game of the regular season at Greenup. Congrats Royals!

PS - nice to get up with beverlybubba at the tailgate. Always good to put a face with a fellow BGPer.:thumb:

Any idea as to who the Royals should or could play in the first two rounds of the playoffs?

Congratulations to Mason County. They should play East Ridge in the 1st round.

That is my understanding.

I'm pretty sure the Royals did it back in '03 with Dustin and Chris didnt they? Correct me if I'm wrong.

It's a statement to Harris' ability when you talk about "holding him to 100 yards."

Mason's defense did an excellent job in the second half.

Congrats to the Royals. Good to meet you too, mcpapa.

I believe that team started 8-0 and then lost to Russell.

They won 9 in a row but didn't start the year 9-0.

Lost to Dunbar in Game 4 in OT.

Mason Co's D really played outstanding in the red zone tonight. That 4th and inches stop was HUGE!

Congrats to the Royals and Coach B. Coach B runs a good program. Wish them nothing but the best.
