nomorenoles Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Surprised at the score. But a win is a win for the Bunnies.
Jumper_Dad Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Congrats Jumpers on 9-0 record. Good game tonight, Great D all night. Wayne County was definitely ready to play and played hard the entire game. Keep your heads right and keep focusing on getting better each week. BTW jeez it was miserable weather tonight, glad to be home, dry and warm.
AverageJoesGym Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Congrats to the Briar Jumpers. It wasn't pretty but a very nice job by the Somerset defense who really shut down DJ Hall and the Wayne County offense. The Wayne County defense played very well as well holding the Jumpers to 1 score. The field conditions were just horrible and really had an impact on both offenses. It looked like the field had been well maintained it was just very soft and very slick. Pretty much any run or pass pattern that required any kind of a cut was impossible. The main thing for the Briar Jumpers is they took care of the ball and got the win to move to 9-0 on the season. The win also clinches the district championship and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Congrats guys!
jumper 4 12 27 Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 When you can play defense like that you always give yourself a chance to win. Way to go Jumpers and get ready for a long playoff run!!!!

Somerset is a fantastic tackling team. To me that has been the biggest difference in this Briar Jumper team and some of the other good Somerset teams of the past 7-8 years--they really play defense well. In years past bad weather and field conditions would have made it really difficult for Somerset to win because it puts a damper on the passing game. This year, however, Somerset can run the football and stop the other team from running. Sure, the passing offense has been slowed down by the weather but the defense has only given up 1 touchdown drive the past 2 weeks. Also, I'd like to point out that sophmore punter Alex Lange has done an excellent job giving the Briar Jumpers the advantage in the field position battle the last couple of weeks. That advantage was huge in the playing conditions last night.
