That's a very good question. I look forward to that matchup this year. And Ludlow laying the proverbial egg year in and year out against Beechwood is really getting frustrating. I'm not saying they should be beating them, but I do think the Panthers should be giving them alot more competition. Hope that changes soon.

Ludlow plays Bellevue this week so maybe we will get some insight from that game. My gut tells me that Beechwood is still well ahead of Bellevue but it is one of those games where a couple of early turnovers by Beechwood could give Bellevue confidence and make it a battle.

 

Despite the final score, I thought Ludlow looked as good as they have looked in several years. The QB throws a nice ball. He has some receivers. There is some speed in the backfield. Rice is a force leading the defense. If Ludlow keeps working hard, I think they can have some nice wins the rest of the way.

Beechwood while still very good, is definitely not your normal Beechwood team. When you compare them to other Beechwood teams, I would say that they really don't compare to much. Small schools like Bellevue, Ludlow, etc. go through cycles of having really good teams. For the second time this decade Bellevue has seemed to get sorta lucky and have had themselves that good team the same year that Beechwood is sorta down compared to normal. The same thing happened during the 2005 season. I think we might see the same results with Bellevue beating Beechwood during the regular season, and Beechwood beating them though in the playoffs.

The score don't show it obviously. However Ludlow did do some good things in this game. They had some chances early and didn't take advantage. Then once Beechwood got up 21 to 0, it seemed like the whole Beechwood thing got in Ludlow's head a little bit, and it just went down hill from there. Just whenever plays Beechwood its all mental, and once Beechwood does a few good things. You see Ludlow just kinda lose it some, which you don't see in other games.
