October 26, 200916 yr Author Very good movie. It was really creepy and although there wasn't a ton of "moments" there were a ton of "edge of your seat waiting for things to happen" moments. The ending was very good as well. The theater went crazy.
October 26, 200916 yr I thought the ending was awful, and didn't fit in with the rest of the movie. Not the entire ending, I'm talking about the very last thing that happened. The original endings, either one, would have been better. I wish they wouldn't have listened to Spielberg.

I haven't seen the original ending. Anywhere I can see it online?

I haven't seen the original ending. Anywhere I can see it online? Youtube, just search "Paranormal Activity Original Alternate Ending". There are two different alternates, but I could only find one. Not sure if they filmed the other. You can read about both at the Paranormal Activity wikipedia page.
October 26, 200916 yr I keep hearing about this movie, but know nothing about it. What's the main premise of the movie?
October 26, 200916 yr I keep hearing about this movie, but know nothing about it. What's the main premise of the movie? It is based around a couple named Micah and Katie. They live together in a suburb in San Diego. Katie has been experiencing "paranormal activities" since she was young and lately her and Micah had been hearing things, so Micah decides to set up a camera in their room to film things that happen at night. After he begins filming, many crazy, scary things happen to them over a the next few days and they are all caught on tape. I won't say anymore, but I will say that some things are very very creepy and if you like scary movies you will probably like Paranormal Activity. Rottentomatoes.com which is usually fairly harsh on horror/scary movies, gave this movie an 86% out of 100% which is very good.

Thanks for the synopsis.:thumb:

October 26, 200916 yr My wife and I went to see this Sunday evening. Loved it. Sent chills up my spine on more than one occasion. This is the type of reaction I think the Blair Witch Project intended to get, but this one was done so much better. Not a lot of things jumping out at you or anything, just the anticipation of what might be coming was very well done. The best part was the reaction from some of the people in the theatre. One guy was really getting on my nerves with some comments, but towards the end after one scary part he commented 'I think I just peed a little'. I think this is one of those movies that is best seen in a theatre.
October 26, 200916 yr FWIW, Paranormal Activity beat out Saw 756 (or whatever sequel they're on now) this week. Also saw this on Wiki: In 2008, the DVD ended up at DreamWorks and was viewed by Production Executive Ashley Brooks. Brooks was so impressed by the movie that she "pestered" her boss, Production Chief Adam Goodman, every day to see the film until he eventually saw it. Goodman, in turn, brought it to his boss, Studio Chief Stacey Snider. They were impressed by the film as well and handed the DVD to Steven Spielberg, who took it home to watch. Spielberg allegedly returned to DreamWorks the next day with the DVD in a "garbage bag" because he thought the DVD was "haunted". According to Spielberg, minutes after he viewed the film, his bedroom doors "locked by themselves" and he could not get out without calling in a locksmith. Also, I'm glad they didn't go with a remake: At the screening, people began walking out - Goodman was afraid that he made the wrong decision and that the screening was a bomb until he learned (in a twist reminiscent of the famous screening of 1979's Alien) that the viewers were actually truly frightened by the film and were leaving for that reason. It was at this point that Goodman canned all thoughts of a Hollywood remake and decided to release Peli's version of the film. Apparently, they are planning on making a sequel as well. We'll see how that goes.
October 26, 200916 yr I don't necessarily believe the Spielberg story. I am extremely happy they didn't do a remake. The way it was done was perfect.
October 26, 200916 yr Author Oh yeah and HB20 I actually didn't like the alternate ending, my wife liked it but I didn't.
October 26, 200916 yr The one on Youtube is OK. There is another one that is mentioned on wikipedia that I think would have been the best.

Oh, I don't either, but I thought it was interesting and certainly even more interesting if true. The one on Youtube is OK. There is another one that is mentioned on wikipedia that I think would have been the best. I've seen 2 out of the 3, and I'd assume the other might be on the DVD extras. IMO, I think they went with Spielberg's ending because it made it seem more paranormal. If they had gone with the original ending or the 3rd, then it could almost be taken as, "Well she just went crazy." I just think the ending we see in theaters now really drives home that this was paranormal and not necessarily a mental illness.
