Just wondering...what are the rules/guidelines for playing varsity on Friday and then JV on Saturday?

Good question. Hopefully someone will have the answer. The only thing I would say is I don't think anyone plays seniors in JV games, but I am not sure if that is a rule. I just think most coaches don't do it. But a lot of teams, especially smaller schools will have guys who play varsity also play JV. Usually you don't see a player who starts varsity play JV.

If you are asking the question because of Pike, I think it is a very good move by Dixie to play him in JV games at QB. I don't think he plays any defense in JV games, just QB. He needs the reps at QB because last year was his first year as a QB.

I really don't think it's a rule. I am blown away that a varsity coach would risk one of his better players on the team (Period) to play JV. I thought JV games were for dev not wins or losses. Maybe it is for dev but I still don't think it is worth it.

That is why I say it is a good move for Dixie to play Pike in JV games at QB. They are trying to develop a starting varsity QB for next year.

Not to kidnap the thread, why didn't Will Bardo play JV QB last year for HHS. I know why, because a good coach wouldn't risk getting one of his defensive starters hurt by playing a meaningless game. Different strokes for different fokes I guess!!!!! Bad move IMO

Come on now. It is starting to sound like this is sour grapes about HHS losing a JV game to Dixie. HHS fears no one, wants to play the best, respects anyone who is able to beat them and uses that HHS work ethic and coaching to learn from defeat and make sure it doesn't happen again. Right?

I think we have a winner!!!!!

Both of Dixie's back-up QB's start D on the varsity. So by some people's opinion they should cancel their JV season.

Whatever, your right!!!!!!:notworthy: Some funny stuff right there...Sour Grapes!!!!!:laugh::laugh: Good luck to Dixie the rest of the year.:thumb:

So if this is the case then I guess they don't have an option. You have to do what you have to do. I just find it strange that a Class 5A schoool is having a hard time finding players to play that postion. It sounds like Dixie has that problem. Good luck to Dixie the rest of the season!!!!

I understand what you're getting at but Bardo was a junior getting some nice playing time during varsity games and Pike is a sophmore so I can see where they would want to get him the experience since he'll be starting next year. Sure it's a risk but long term it may be the best move.

Sure it is, I didn't realize that Dixie didn't have another option. :thumb: It just a big, I'm sorry, a huge risk.....

Sorry , don't have an answer for you...

but for what its worth, a GCL dad told me this morning that only Sophomores play JV in the GCL.
