Sounds like Hines is the problem with the game. If he feels it is one less game his kids will play becaues of the forfiet, then here is his opportunity to play. Lincoln wants to play, but Hines doesnt. Go figure. I am sure it is not for sake of Lincolns kids as to why he wont play. He probably just just wants an easy win in district play. What a shame.

Without sounding like a jerk, it really is not Pulaski's problem to make room for Lincoln. It was Lincoln's school system that has denied them the opportunity to play the game. Coach Settles had even said more kids were out last week than this. I would love for the game to happen, but don't throw accusations about coach Hines when all he is doing is looking out for his players' best interests. I agree that it would be a great fit to play on the 30th, if Garrard would agree to move the game. Let's just hope cooler heads prevail & this game does happen. As a PC fan, I just don't like the blame being placed on PC by some fans on here, when they had NOTHING to do with decisions made by the Lincoln County School Board.

I think the KHSAA will step in to help the two schools get the game played. It's just a disagreement about when — not whether — the game should be made up, and nothing more than that, and that's why they'll have to step in.

 

Lincoln's athletic staff seems to be making a good-faith effort to try to get in a game that they weren't a part of postponing, but Pulaski doesn't want to be inconvenienced if possible as it thinks about its playoff future. The onus is on Lincoln to try reschedule the game, and it sounds like they're trying pretty hard, but I can absolutely understand Pulaski's point as well. That's why the KHSAA will have to mediate, and ultimately there's going to be a solution that one side isn't going to like.

 

I think that side will be Pulaski, because they're going to be told that Lincoln deserves the chance to play. It's not like a normal forfeit situation in which one team just doesn't want to play the other. Lincoln wants to play, and in fact needs to play to be eligible for the playoffs. So my guess is one way or another, it's going to get played.

I'd guess that they'll come pretty close to doing what Settles has proposed, particularly since he already has the OK from the third party (Garrard). That's why I think Pulaski won't like it. They might ask them to play it on a Tuesday instead of Wednesday, but those are small details.

It's a bad situation for all involved! I'm sure both sides want to play this game. As coach Hines put it yesterday, "It's 1 less game these kids get to play in their careers". The school district had to way the options of playing the game and risk spreading the flu even more, or biting the bullet & getting students healthy in the county. No one is to blame here. As I understand it, it is a forfeit though.

I wouldnt think Hines could make this big descision on his own, are there not administrators in Pulaski who have more say in this matter than him. They sure do at Lincoln apparently. Again... IT IS NOT UP TO PULASKI TO BEND OVER FOR LINCOLN!!!!!!!!!!! Do not lay blame at Coach Hines' feet. Lincoln is the one who chose not to play on the scheduled night. I'm sure this game could be played on the 30th. Lincoln has a scheduled game with Garrard County on that night. Are they going to buy out of that contract & take a forfeit against Garrard? It is not up to coach Hines, AD Randy Elmore, Superintendent Tim Eaton, or any other Pulaski County administrator to find a date and time for this game. Are you sure PC is willing to play on the 30th? I don't think that is clear at this point. It seems like it is today or tomorrow or never.

I guess the question is, can Lincoln get opened for that date? I'm sure both sides would like to find common ground. They have been put in a horrible position. As a fan, I just to see the game played. Win or lose.

Unless the scenario is to play on October 30th, why would PC agree to play? Putting the team at risk playing more than 1 game in a week is not an option for PC. Again, I hope the game is played, but it is not up to PC to make any concessions what so ever. They were prepared to play on the scheduled date. No matter who said what to who & when, the fact is Lincoln County canceled the game... NOT Pulaski!
